Former British number one on BBC TV

Coco Gauff did a really good job, she finished the match in a much better position than she started it.

With the opponent she had in front of her, she did what she had to do. There isn't much to be upset about.

Show us your medals! This lot have been there, done it and got the Grand Slam trophies.

Andy Murray and Jamie Murray are warming up for their poignant men's doubles appearance with a practice set against fellow Brit Joe Salisbury and his American partner Rajeev Ram.

All four players have won major titles, of course. But none have claimed the Wimbledon men's doubles.

    Yet...

  3. Game and first set - Kartalpublished at 14:15 British Summer Time 3 July

    Kartal 6-3 Burel*

    Brilliant from Sonay Kartal!

She holds to love to go a set up on world number 45 Clara Burel.

No signs of nerves whatsoever from the 22-year-old Brit, who is through to the second round at Wimbledon for the first time.

Well, now she's just a set away from round three...

Job done for Coco Gauff and she breezes into round three. Anca Todoni, the 19-year-old who is down in 142nd in the world rankings, fought hard, but will file this as a learning experience and see what she has to do to improve to her game.

  5. 'Gauff is a tough competitor'published at 14:13 British Summer Time 3 July

    *Todoni 2-6 1-5 Gauff

    Johanna Konta
Former British number one on BBC TV

Coco Gauff is a very tough competitor, she moves so well and transitions really well from defence to offence and vice versa.

She does have that going in her favour.

When she has that to fall back on, it is quite a tough ask for someone like Anca Todoni.

  6. Kartal to serve for first setpublished at 14:13 British Summer Time 3 July

    *Kartal 5-3 Burel

Sonay Kartal is putting pressure on the Clara Burel serve with the Frenchwoman getting herself in real trouble with a few double faults.

Burel does manage to cling on for the hold but Kartal will now serve for the first set...

  7. Gauff one game awaypublished at 14:12 British Summer Time 3 July

    *Todoni 2-6 1-5 Gauff

Gauff has to sprint to the back of the court to get to a Todoni lob and keeps it alive, only for the Romanian to fire a cross-court winner. Gauff does the splits and slips but then gives a thumbs up to show she's OK.

One of Gauff's serves comes in at 124mph, the best from any player in the women's singles so far. That helps her to a hold and she's one game away now.

    Naomi Broady
British player on BBC Radio 5 Live and BBC Sounds

Gauff holds herself to such a high standard that even at 6-2 3-1 she’s wanting more. She’d rather get this done as soon as possible, rather than just get across the finish line.

You can feel the support of the crowd shifting on court one. Every time Anca Todoni wins a point, there are huge cheers and whistles bouncing off the closed roof.

There's a lone shout of "let's go Coco", but I think the majority are behind the underdog.

  12. Gauff gets the double breakpublished at 14:09 British Summer Time 3 July

    Todoni 2-6 1-4 Gauff*

Coco Gauff is close to the finish line now. Todoni has repeatedly struggled with the pace of her shots and gone long a few times. Gauff now has a double break and this one could be over soon.

The first break goes to Britain's Sonay Kartal!

Clara Burel double faults to give the world number 298 a second break point of the game and the Brit takes it.

Well, she did what she had to, getting a good return back before Burel hits a forehand into the net.

  15. 'Gauff not feeling comfortable'published at 14:02 British Summer Time 3 July

    *Todoni 2-6 1-3 Gauff

    Johanna Konta
Former British number one on BBC TV

It looks like Coco Gauff is just muttering to herself again.

She is obviously not feeling her most comfortable.

  16. Postpublished at 14:02 British Summer Time 3 July

    *Todoni 2-6 1-3 Gauff

Three times in that game, Anca Todoni is unable to control wild swipes on the forehand and the ball flies long on each occasion, with Coco Gauff now only needing three more games to move into round three.

  17. Great match unfoldingpublished at 14:01 British Summer Time 3 July

    Kartal 3-2 Burel*

    Charlotte Coates
    BBC Sport at Wimbledon

We could be in for a cracker here on court three.

Clara Burel is hitting the ball very well and Sonay Kartal has to dig deep to grind out the hold.

The crowd show their appreciation for a brilliant shot at the net from Kartal - she might need more of that today.

  20. Kartal saves break pointpublished at 13:59 British Summer Time 3 July

    Kartal 3-2 Burel*

The rain is holding off for now and Sonay Kartal keeps it on serve in this first set - but has to save another break point.

The Brit has started well but France's Clara Burel is showing the odd glimpse of why she is a top-50 player.

It's Kartal showing her skills to end the game, though, with a strong serve, followed by a booming forehand before a delicate touch at the net finishes it off.
