  1. Kyrgios practice with Djokovic kyboshedpublished at 13:59 British Summer Time 3 July

    Jonathan Jurejko
    BBC Sport at Wimbledon

Novak Djokovic had arranged to have a practice with a familiar face today... foe-turned-friend Nick Kyrgios.

But the Aussie, who has not played for over a year after wrist surgery, did not appear to be down at Aorangi Park.

Instead Djokovic hit with American world number 12 Taylor Fritz.

Afterwards I asked Djokovic what happened to his original practice partner, who is working as a television analyst for a few channels here, including BBC Sport.

"He couldn't in the end because of commentary commitments and the practice being delayed by the rain," said 24-time major champion Djokovic.

He added: "I hope it will happen later in the week. It was a shame because we were both excited for it."

    Todoni 2-6 1-2 Gauff*

We've got the roof on this court and one misjudged effort from Gauff flies up near there. Todoni thought the play should've stopped, no-one really knows what to do, play continues, Todoni nets and Gauff gets the point.

But it doesn't matter too much as Todoni holds her serve for her first game of the second set.

  4. 'Gauff is zoned in'published at 13:56 British Summer Time 3 July

    *Todoni 2-6 0-2 Gauff

    Johanna Konta
Former British number one on BBC TV

You do get a feeling from Coco Gauff's side that she is zoned in a little bit more, she seems more level-headed.

She seems a little more quiet on her end of the court. She feels a bit more settled.

There have been a lot less errors coming off her side.

Suddenly we have a run of points and I feel like the most significant momentum shift.

    *Todoni 2-6 0-2 Gauff

A comfortable, straight-forward hold to love from Gauff and out of the past 15 points, she has won 12 of them.

There is still rain in the air and a few speckles are landing on my phone screen as I type this.

There’s some disgruntled faces in the crowd who are obviously frustrated at the weather.

  7. Gauff starts the second set wellpublished at 13:52 British Summer Time 3 July

    Todoni 2-6 0-1 Gauff*

It's looking a long way back for Anca Todoni, as she nets to give the break of serve to her opponent. Coco Gauff a set and a break up and looking in control.

  8. 'Would love to see Swiatek and Gauff match-up on grass'published at 13:49 British Summer Time 3 July

    *Todoni 2-6 Gauff

    Naomi Broady
British player on BBC Radio 5 Live and BBC Sounds

Gauff is one of the several players who has the question mark by her name as one of the possible title winners here.

Iga Swiatek has been her Achilles heel but on the grass I’d love to see that as a match-up. She would be far more competitive than on the clay.

When you are in contention and believing that you can win the title, it is so important to conserve energy in these early rounds, Get on and off the court, very business-like.

  9. Game and first set - Gauffpublished at 13:47 British Summer Time 3 July

Gauff takes first set against Todoni

Coco Gauff's serving is working well in the eighth game, with Anca Todoni repeatedly unable to keep the ball alive and after 40 minutes of play, the American wraps up the set and is halfway to round three.

    Todoni 2-5 Gauff*

Todoni is only winning one in five points off her second serve. That stat needs to shoot up if she is to get back into this match.

  12. Kartal holdspublished at 13:45 British Summer Time 3 July

    Kartal 2-1 Burel*

The rain delay does not seem to have done Sonay Kartal any favours.

She resumed 40-0 up but quickly finds herself facing a break point as Clara Burel comes out firing - an exquisite drop shot a particular highlight.

But the Brit starts to find her rhythm again and digs in to hold and keep it on serve in the first.

Play might be on and off but the news keeps going. Chetan Pathak is not letting the rain stop him and is now getting ready to present on the BBC News Channel's Sportsday.

    *Todoni 1-5 Gauff

Coco Gauff is now just one game away from securing the opening set, but her standards are so high and she looks absolutely furious with herself when she misses a couple of shots that she felt she should have made.

    Nevertheless, she leads 5-1.

  16. One ball downpublished at 13:41 British Summer Time 3 July

    Kartal 1-1 Burel*

    Charlotte Coates
    BBC Sport at Wimbledon

One lucky spectator just got his hands on a Wimbledon tennis ball after a shank from Clara Burel landed into the crowd.

Normally, the umpire insists the ball is thrown back on court but she mustn’t have seen this one.

  17. 'Seen a few errors come off the Todoni racquet'published at 13:41 British Summer Time 3 July

    Todoni 1-4 Gauff*

    Johanna Konta
Former British number one on BBC TV

Both players have settled in a lot more and now we are starting to see what Anca Todoni does well and where the holes are possibly in her game, regarding her movement and how she adapts with different balls coming to her.

The couple of times that Coco Gauff has sliced the ball has given her a different look.

We've seen a few errors come off the Todoni racquet.

A wry smile and a shake of the head from Anca Todoni.

The challenge shows Coco Gauff clips the baseline by mere millimetres and there's a big 'oooh' from the crowd.
