New balls for Jannik Sinner and he promptly rattles through another comfortable hold.

He tries to get a bit too cute with a drop shot and nets it but puts that behind him quickly.

I am sure Berrettini expected nothing less playing against the number one player in the world right now.

Sinner is doing a good job and Berrettini just has to manage his own service games.

I’ve headed over to court two for the spectacle that is Stan Wawrinka against Gael Monfils.

These two have a combined age of 76 but you can be sure of tremendous entertainment here.

    *Sinner 7-6 (7-3) 1-2 Berrettini

Matteo Berrettini gets out of a jam again.

But he really is living dangerously at the moment. Jannik Sinner continues to pounce on any errors - great or small.

While Sinner is breezing through his service games, Berrettini is finding his are something of a grind.

  5. Two break points for Sinnerpublished at 19:57 British Summer Time 3 July

    Sinner 7-6 (7-3) 1-1 Berrettini*

    Big chance for Jannik Sinner.

He has two break points after Matteo Berrettini sends a forehand clattering into the middle of the net.

There's a collective grimace from the Centre Court crowd as Matteo Berrettini takes a leg-splitting tumble.

He's up on his feet quickly, but he lets out a roar of frustration after missing the next point.

Another backhand slice from Matteo Berrettini finds the net and he lets out a short, sharp angry cry.

It likely wouldn't have made much difference in this game as Jannik Sinner holds to love, but he'll know he has to cut out the unforced errors to stand a chance.

Anyone know who these two chaps are dressed up as?

Both of them have come from Italy and arrived four days ago for The Championships.

Took me 10 minutes to get a picture of them after waiting for them to do several interviews with broadcasters.

I'm sure you'll see them cropping up on your TV.

  10. Big hold for Berrettinipublished at 19:51 British Summer Time 3 July

    *Sinner 7-6 (7-3) 0-1 Berrettini

Jannik Sinner is turning up the pressure on Matteo Berrettini, forcing him back with a brutal backhand before advancing to hammer a forehand into the corner.

It's leading to some frustration from Berrettini and that is only added to when he fails to convert a regulation volley at 40-30.

The 2021 finalist earns the advantage but then puts a backhand slice into the net. Those unforced errors as starting to hurt him.

There's a shout and a fist pump as he holds on... for now.

We've also had a tie-break over on Court One where French Open finalist Jasmine Paolini and Belgian Greet Minnen have been locked in a real battle in their opening set.

After neither player could hold their serve in the opening four games they managed to keep things on serve for the next three but again traded breaks in the following two games.

Eventually we got to 6-6 with Minnen holding her serve to send us to a tie-break.

True to form, both players struggled to hold serve in the tie-break too and it took until 5-4 for Paolini to finally win a point on her own serve.

Big cheers from the Italian when she finally took the set with her second set point. Paolini has never progressed past the first round of Wimbledon in four attempts.

  12. 'Quality set of tennis from both players'published at 19:45 British Summer Time 3 July

    Sinner 6-6 (7-3) 0-0 Berrettini*

    Tim Henman
Former British number one on BBC TV

It’s a quality set of tennis when both players are serving that aggressively, with Jannik Sinner only making four unforced errors.

Sinner will be very happy to get that first set under his belt.

It's a long, slow walk back to the chair for Matteo Berrettini.

The unforced errors crept in at the worst possible moment there.

Sinner wins first set against Berrettini

Jannik Sinner only needs one of them. The world number one takes the first set.

Too much power on his backhand and Matteo Berrettini, having advanced towards the net, can't get it back.

An incredibly tight opening set but it is Sinner who takes it.

  15. Set points for Sinnerpublished at 19:41 British Summer Time 3 July

    *Sinner 6-6 (6-3) Berrettini

Another point against the serve and Jannik Sinner is in control of this tie-break.

Matteo Berrettini is not giving it up yet, though, and hammers a cross-court forehand past Sinner.

But the top seed responds and now has three set points.

  16. Postpublished at 19:38 British Summer Time 3 July

    *Sinner 6-6 (4-2) Berrettini

Jannik Sinner earns the mini-break again as Matteo Berrettini slaps the ball into the net.

Berrettini will be doubly disappointed having done the same when the ball sat up nicely for him on the Sinner serve on the previous point.

  17. Postpublished at 19:36 British Summer Time 3 July

    *Sinner 6-6 (1-2) Berrettini

Jannik Sinner drags a forehand wide to give Matteo Berrettini the mini-break immediately.

But he gives it straight back... Berrettini gets two goes at an overhead volley but Sinner gets the first back and the second is long.

An ace keeps the tie-break on serve.

I can't see Jannik Sinner's loyal followers, the Carota Boys, anywhere on Centre Court.

Perhaps they're watching at home in Italy.

The group dress up as carrots after seeing their favourite player snack on one during a changeover a couple of years ago.

There are a few people wearing bright orange t-shirts, though. Maybe that's just a fashion choice!

  19. Tie-break timepublished at 19:33 British Summer Time 3 July

    *Sinner 6-6 Berrettini

None of the drama we saw in Matteo Berrettini's previous service game.

He holds to 15, the two Italians can't be split so far so into the tie-break we go.
