After a chaotic rally with all four players within a yard or so of the net, it scoops up off the net cord and is eventually slammed down the middle to hand Rinky Hijikata and John Peers another chance to break.

The Murray brothers save again and Andy goes on to hold.

That was crucial straight off the back of that tie-break loss.

"Not too quick Andy - I've got a babysitter," shouts one fella in the crowd.

Murray probably has too seeing as only two of his four kids are here on Centre Court.

    The night is young, people.

The Murray brothers need to shake that off and start fresh here.

Andy is on serve but it's the Australians who have the momentum and now two chances to break!

Jamie comes to the aid of his brother to save the first before he shows great court awareness to move out the way and let the ball fly long. Deuce.

The margin of error has shrunk for the Murray brothers and allowed Hijikata and Peers to relax just that little bit.

Nobody expected the Aussies to roll over, did they?

This is a nation of competitors who love to get one over on anyone.

Hijikata and Peers roar as virtually the rest of Centre Court falls into silence.

It's being played like a true final. There was so much tension. It was almost like sudden death. We saw some great plays and fine returns from both pairs.

    It is such fine margins.

The Murray brothers had that first set in their grasp but with a 6-5 lead and set point in that tie-break but two holds of serve from Rinky Hijikata and a break got the Australians over the line.

Jean: I can’t keep track of this doubles match. All in white outfits and all 4 wearing identical white caps! So confusing!

Rinky Hijikata and John Peers will be loving this as well, the opportunity to play first-round doubles on Centre Court.

  10. Game and first set - Hijikata & Peerspublished at 20:03 British Summer Time 4 July

    Hijikata & Peers 7-6 (8-6) A Murray* & J Murray

Rinky Hijikata faults on first serve to stay in the set but lands his second and it's scooped back into the net from the other side. 6-6 in this tie-break.

That is stunning from Hijikata to get set point as he spots the smallest of gaps down the line and guides the ball just out the reach of Jamie Murray.

And the Australian pair take the set with Hijikata delivering again. This time it's drilled down the middle.

    Ooops, I spoke too soon.

The Australian pair Rinky Hijikata and John Peers manage to break and then move into a 5-3 lead but Jamie Murray breaks back immediately. 5-4.

Andy Murray holds with a huge amount of help from Jamie, who stretches high into the air to slam down and level at 5-5.

And just like that, the Murray brothers have set point.

I hope everyone is sitting comfortably, both at home and on Centre Court, because all the signs suggest this one could run for a while.

It stays on serve in the tie-break as Andy Murray slots a volley down the middle.

It's neck and neck. There is a lot of tension out on the court. Both teams haven't been able to thread back-to-back points.

I agree with Kate at 19:31. The other sport in which all the players wear all white is Test cricket, and introducing numbers on the back of shirts there has been successful. I'd suggest we do the same for Wimbledon. Or just allowing each player to wear different colour socks would be a help.

A break here could be huge in deciding how this first set concludes.

Andy Murray apologises to his brother as he meets a rising ball with his backhand but gets the angle wrong and it's wide.

The brothers exchange a high-five as they get back to 30-30 when Rinky Hijikata goes long.

This set stays on serve when Jamie gets too much on his forehand.
