Walking from Court One to Centre Court, you could feel spots of rain, but luckily the expected showers have stayed away so far today and play continues on the outside courts as well as the show courts.

No risks being taken on Centre Court though with the roof firmly closed. After a rain-hit opening week, the organisers will be hoping play can be held throughout the day inside and outside to get rid of the backlog of matches.

    *Fritz 3-3 Zverev

You sense Taylor Fritz will fancy his chances by taking this match as deep as possible and really test Alexander Zverev's knee.

A superb backhand drop shot from the German at the net gives him the sixth game to level things up again.

  4. Broom and Fery out of men's doublespublished at 15:37 British Summer Time 8 July

    Gonzalez/Molteni 6-2 6-7 (4-7) 7-5 Broom/Fery

The dream is over for British wildcard pairing Charles Broom and Arthur Fery. They have lost their men's doubles third round match to 11th seeds Maximo Gonzalez and Andres Molteni 6-2 6-7 (4-7) 7-5 on court 15.

Broom and Fery recorded an impressive victory in the second round over the 7th seeds but couldn't pull off another upset. Serving at 5-5 in the third set, the Brits were broken right at the end and couldn't break back to force a tiebreak.

Next up for the winner on Court One could well be Novak Djokovic, if he beats Holger Rune later on today on Centre Court.

Alex de Minaur's record against Djokovic has seen one win and two losses from their three matches.

They met in the last 16 of the 2023 Australian Open with Djokovic cruising to a 6-2 6-1 6-2 victory. De Minaur, when representing Australia, did beat Serbia's Djokovic, 6-4 6-4 in the nations' United Cup in January but then lost in the quarter-finals of the Monte Carlo Masters, with Djokovic winning the clay-court encounter 7-5 6-4.

A Wimbledon quarter-final meeting between Djokovic and De Minaur would be the first match on grass between the pair.

Later, we'll have Jamie Murray in the mixed doubles with American Taylor Townsend on Court 2.

Currently, he's out on the practice courts getting his serve right.

Of course, in the men's doubles, he and his brother Andy Murray were knocked out last week.

I think for such a tall guy, Zverev does move well. I don’t think he’s had many performance related injuries, more fluke injuries.

He really has to be 99-100%. I think if he is at 90% of his movement, Fritz will really be looking to exploit that.

A key service game for Arthur Fils as he looks to get on the board in this fourth set.

Alex de Minaur isn't letting the Frenchman take it without a fight but Fils gets the job done after second deuce.

Alexander Zverev, gold chains dangling over his shirt, produces a 24 carat service game featuring two aces as he starts to find some rhythm with his serve.

Taylor Fritz responds with a classy service game of his own as Zverev continues to move a little more gingerly across the grass.

All square so far on Centre Court.

Svitolina emotional as she beats Wang

In her on-court interview after beating China's Wang Xinyu, Ukrainian Elina Svitolina is first asked about how she played today. The 21st seed says:

"It was a good performance from my side today and you know, it's a very difficult day today for Ukrainian people..."

Svitolina then steps away from microphone and becomes visibly emotional, fighting back tears. The court two crowd applaud and cheer in support before she composes herself.

Svitolina wore a black ribbon on her shirt today after 33 people in Ukraine were killed and a children's hospital in Kyiv was seriously damaged by Russian strikes this morning.

"It was not easy to focus today on the match. Since the morning it was very difficult to read the news and just to go on the court it's extremely tough, so I'm happy I could play today and get a win."

    Tim Henman

There is going to be a lot of first strike tennis in this match. Any time you get a second serve, you better take advantage of it because you are not going to get much joy off their first serves.

    Fritz 2-1 Zverev*

Alexander Zverev is 40 love up in his opening service game but Taylor Fritz manages to make him work hard back to 40-30 before the German is able to close it out.

Zverev does not seem to be moving quite as freely with his knee as Fritz holds the third game without the fourth seed really being able to lay a glove on him.

  14. De Minaur breakspublished at 15:26 British Summer Time 8 July

    *Fils 2-6 4-6 6-4 0-2 De Minaur

Alex de Minaur's time off court between sets seems to have had the desired impact as a forehand down the line takes him to 40-0 and then he quickly gets the break of serve on the board.

A chance for De Minaur to lead 30-0 on serve but the net cord is not his friend on this occasion. 15-15.

De Minaur saves two break points before going on to hold.

    The momentum has undoubtedly shifted.

Alexander Zverev came through against Cameron Norrie in the last round in spite of a nasty fall where he jarred his knee.

After lengthy treatment, and a lot of grimacing, he managed to continue and get through in three sets.

Two days later, the German fourth seed is wearing a thick knee support.

He doesn't look to move too smoothly as he walks to the baseline. Let's see what shape he is in...

I feel that Fils is now the heavy favourite. That quality of tennis he rose to there was extraordinary.

I didn’t think he really had it in him that he was going to change the patterns of play but he did, he really did. He started to play the ball up higher then he started to find depth that he hadn’t had.

Court One rises to its feet as Arthur Fils says he can't hear their shouts so demands louder and gets louder.

The power of the 20-year-old is breath-taking, with gasps from the crowd at how hard he is hitting some of his forehands shots.

We continue into a fourth as Alex de Minaur loses a set for the first time in these championships.

  20. Postpublished at 15:16 British Summer Time 8 July

    *Fils 2-6 4-6 6-4 0-0 De Minaur

Alex de Minaur has decided to head off court between sets.

That seems like the smart thing to do. An opportunity to reset for the Australian.

He's yet to go beyond three sets at SW19 and had a walkover in round three so he should be much fresher than Arthur Fils.
