NSPCC: 'Police still in 20th Century' on child abuse

Police forces in England and Wales have been strongly criticised for the way they deal with accusations of child abuse and neglect.

The Inspectorate of Constabulary has found that only a third of the police cases involving vulnerable children that it looked at were handled to a good standard.

John Cameron, of the child protection charity NSPCC, described the findings as "20th Century policing in the 21st Century" and "not acceptable".
