Westminster political whips: Mitchell, Taylor and Dobbs

Former whips share some of the tricks of their trade in Parliament where they bid to ensure party discipline and keep their MPs in order.

Michael Dobbs, now Lords Dobbs, offered some insight into one of most famous whips - his creation of the fictional Francis Urquhart in House of Cards,

While two-time Conservative whip Andrew Mitchell claimed "whipping like stripping is best done in private".

And Labour's Ann Taylor, now Baroness Taylor, said she was often asked who were the most awkward MPs, and pointed the finger at the ministers who expected miracles. Adam Fleming reports.
