Chancellor's Spending Review and cuts to budgets
George Osborne's Wednesday statement on the Spending Review - or a Spending Round as it is set to be renamed - will set out how much individual government departments will lose from their budgets in the financial year 2015-16.
In total he will announce additional cuts of £11.5bn.
Giles Dilnot reports on how history shows previous spending reviews were handled.
