Barroso: 'It's not just the US that's divided on Syria'

The European Commission President Jose Manuel Barroso has commented on the EU's position on Syria.

He admitted that Europe has divided opinions on Syria but said that a political process was the best way forward.

Mr Barroso said: "I think that we have been shaping what I consider a very serious position, so condemning without any ambiguity the abhorrent use of chemical weapons, saying clearly that the perpetrator should be held responsible - and we need a political process."
