    A lorry driver due to face a charge of driving while disqualified is wanted by police after he failed to appear in court, external.

    Pawel Cieplinski was due to appear at Worcester Magistrates Court in July.

    The 39-year-old comes from Poland and has previous links to Shropshire, Worcester and Redditch but could be working anywhere in the UK, police say.

    Well, he's on the move.

    The 21m-long Dippy will visit Birmingham Museum, as well as other museums across the country until 2020.

    The plaster-of-Paris model is a copy of an American dinosaur specimen and was unveiled in London in 1905.

    Staff protesting outside HMP Hewell in Worcestershirel say they "regularly fear for their lives" and claim drugs and dangerous items are being flown into the jail "on a daily basis" by drones.

    Members of the Prison Officers Association, who are not allowed to strike, are holding a national protest over health and safety concerns.

  5. Dogs home boss arrested on suspicion of stealing '£450k' in donationspublished at 12:12 Greenwich Mean Time 15 November 2016

    The boss of Birmingham Dogs Home has been arrested on suspicion of stealing about £450,000 in donations, the charity says.

    Simon Price, chief executive of the site in Catherine-de-Barnes, Solihull, was arrested by West Midlands Police on Friday.

    John Wheatley, chairman, said: "I am bitterly disappointed to confirm that funds have been stolen from Birmingham Dogs Home".

    He said the arrest followed an inquiry into suspected "financial irregularity" in the charity.

    A High Court injunction has been issued against the owner of farmland near Rugeley where around 1,000 tonnes of wood waste has been burning for two months. 

    Fears over water contamination mean fire crews have had to move and spread the waste at Oak Tree Farm in Slitting Mill, rather than douse it down.

    A court injunction obtained by Staffordshire County Council yesterday prohibits the burning of waste at the site without council permission.  

    The fire, involving 1,000 tonnes of waste, started on 5 September.

    About 60 members of staff are gathered outside HMP Hewell in Redditch, according to the Prison Officers Association.

    Thousands of prison officers in England have stopped work amid health and safety concerns, the union has said.

    The Prison Officers Association said up to 10,000 members would take part in the day of protest, which would be "interpreted as a strike", after talks with the government broke down.

    The Ministry of Justice described the action as unjustified and "unlawful".  

  9. Children in Need tandem challenge: From Stoke to Shrewsburypublished at 10:00 Greenwich Mean Time 15 November 2016

    After a successful first day, BBC radio presenter Richie Anderson will be back in the saddle this morning for his Children in Need challenge to ride a tandem 250 miles across the West Midlands.

    Yesterday he went from Birmingham to Stoke-on-Trent, taking in West Brom, Walsall, and Cannock. 

    Radio WM's Richie made it to Barlaston last night after a 30-mile stint with Olympic Champion Joe Clarke, and said it was tough:

    A huge night for Stourbridge who made it through to the second round of the FA Cup for only the fourth time in their history.

    They beat Whitehawk 3-0 in their first round replay to set up a home tie against League One Northampton, who play four divisions above them.

    An elderly woman has died following a house fire in Kingswinford last night. 

    West Midlands Police says it was called to Catesby Drive at about 23:30 last night. 

    We're told the death is not being treated as suspicious.
