    A 24-year-old man arrested after a teenager's body was found in a wardrobe wrapped in clingfilm has been charged with her murder.

    Ashley Foster, of no fixed address, appeared at Wolverhampton Crown Court and pleaded not guilty to murder but admitted a charge of preventing the decent and lawful burial of Megan between 15 April and 5 May this year.

    Judge James Burbidge QC adjourned the case until January next year, when Foster is due to stand trial at the same court accused of murder.

    The Antiques Roadshow is heading to the West Midlands today.

    The programme will use the Black Country Living Museum as part of its 40th series.

    The show, presented by Fiona Bruce, has a rich heritage in this part of the country.

    It's best ever antique find was last year in Tewkesbury and the first pilot programme was filmed in Herefordshire in 1979.

  5. Walsall lake death: Boxing coach pays tribute to 'very well liked lad'published at 13:14 British Summer Time 21 June 2017

    Boxing gloves have been left along with flowers at the site where 15-year-old Spencer Hurst died after getting into difficulty while swimming with his friends.

    The BBC has been contacted by Terry Leonard, one of the coaches from Pleck Boxing Club where Spencer was a member.

    "Spencer Hurst, better known in the gym as Spence, was a very well liked lad. All the boxers and coaches are broken hearted at this terrible news.

    "He has been with us since he was a young lad at junior school and has boxed for the [club] many times."

    Mr Leonard added Spencer was "getting really fit" and there was "no doubt in our minds this lad [Spencer] was destined for major honours in the boxing world."

    A planned new law to allow the high-speed rail line HS2 to be extended from Birmingham to Crewe has been included in the Queen's Speech.

    The Queen announced the government's legislative programme for the next two years at the State Opening of Parliament.

    The planned new bill for HS2 will include the right to compulsorily get the land needed to build and run the line.

    Reports of children being emotionally abused increased by almost 60% in the West Midlands last year.

    That's according to new figures released by the NSPCC, external, which says it received 1,017 calls in 2016-17 from people concerned about children, up from 641 calls in 2014-15.

    The charity fears the problem could be the tip of the iceberg and is urging the government to investigate.

    A 24-year-old man arrested after a teenager's body was found in a wardrobe wrapped in clingfilm has been charged with her murder.

    Ashley Foster is alleged to have killed Megan Bills up to three weeks before her remains were discovered at a property in Brierley Hill, Dudley, last month.

    Mr Foster, of no fixed address, appeared at Wolverhampton Crown Court today and pleaded not guilty to murdering the 17-year-old on a day between 13 and 20 April this year.

    The fire service who attended last night's drowning in Pelsall, have described the incident as "particularly distressing".

    A 15-year-old boy died after going in to a lake with friends.

    West Midlands Fire Service's area commander Ben Brook, said: "This was a particularly distressing incident for everyone involved, not least family and friends of the teenager who were at the scene.

    "On Monday a 16-year-old boy died after going swimming in a reservoir in Rochdale."

    Local residents are warning people of the dangers of the lake in Pelsall after a 15-year-old boy died there last night.

    It is the second known death at the lake.

    In June 2007, a 17-year-old boy fell into the water and his body was found the next day by police divers.

    They say on the 12 June they had almost 970 such calls ,but on Monday they had more than 1,340.

    The advice from doctors is to drink lots of water and stay out of the sun between 11:00 and 15:00.

    A 15-year-old boy has died after getting into difficulty while swimming in a lake with friends.

    Tanya told BBC WM emergency crews had struggled to get access to the lake and locals had helped open a gate at the bottom of Ryders Hayes Lane.

    Paramedics then ran to the lake, arriving about 20 minutes after the boy was reported being in distress.

    "When I got there, his friends were all crying and saying he just said he felt out of breath and tried to grab him but he went under," she said.

    A man fishing at the time also tried to rescue the boy but could not reach him.

    She said the lake was popular with young people who swam in it during the summer, despite the dangers.

    Ten years ago, in June 2007, a 17-year-old boy fell into the water and his body was found the next day by police divers.
