    Plans to cut children centres in Birmingham from 70 to 10 have been revealed.

    The cost saving measures are out for consultation and, if approved, could be implemented by November.

    The centres currently offer services that include stay-and-play groups and health care schemes.

    It's proposed Birmingham Community Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust will take over the running, instead of 76 different contracts currently in place.

  8. Man 'hit by car in gang-related incident' - injuries 'life-threatening'published at 09:04 British Summer Time 19 June 2017

    A man has been left with life-threatening injuries after what police believe to be a 'gang-related' incident in which he was hit by a car.

    The West Midlands Force said it received multiple emergency calls reporting a collision and injured people in Birmingham.

    According to police, officers attending the scene in Ravenhurst Street, Highgate, shortly before 19:00 on Sunday found three damaged cars.

    One person was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries. The force said it believed he was hurt when one of the vehicles hit him.

    Force incident manager Sean Phillips said officers were in hospital "assisting" other injured people.
