    There's severe delays at Birmingham Airport today because more than a quarter of the staff who work in baggage handling have phoned in sick.

    Between 20 and 30 Swissport workers are off work - the company says it hopes it will be back to normal tomorrow.

    Birmingham Airport said it recognises the impact of today's absences and it's providing operational support to Swissport and any complaints should go to the airlines.

    Four teenagers have been arrested in connection with a series of high-value car-jackings in Birmingham, police said.

    West Midlands Police said officers were patrolling in the city centre in the early hours of Monday where they stopped a Range Rover Evoque that had cloned registration plates.

    The car had been stolen during a car-jacking in Erdington on Sunday.

    Three men aged 18 and a 16-year-old were arrested on suspicion of robbery.

    The force added they have all been released while inquiries continue.

    Veteran Warwickshire golfer Paul Broadhurst is off to South Wales to defend his British Senior Open title at Royal Porthcawl from Thursday.

    The 51-year-old from Atherstone played in the world's oldest and most famous competition last week when he missed the cut by just two shots at the 146h Open Championship at Royal Birkdale.

    But this weekend, with his 20-year-old son Sam again acting as his caddy, Broadhurst is taking part in an event that he has serious hopes of winning again - after capturing his first 'Senior Major' by winning on his championship debut at Carnoustie last year.

    "Porthcawl will be tough to defend," he told BBC Sport. "There's lots of good players and it's a course I'm not that familiar with. I've had two practice rounds down there, one in a gale, one in flat calm, so I'm prepared for anything."

    Former Ryder Cup player Broadhurst will be joined at Porthcawl by former British Amateur champion Warren Bladon. Now 51, the man from Four Ashes Golf Centre, Solihull came through qualifying following an 11-man play-off at Southerndown.

    Two builders have had their vans broken into while helping out the DIY SOS team in West Bromwich.

    The team are helping out a family whose lives were torn apart when Crystal Chambers found out aged 32 she had terminal cancer.

    She died in October 2015, leaving her two children in the care of their grandmother.

    The BBC DIY SOS team have stepped in and, with the support of local tradespeople and neighbours, are building an extension which will be completed in nine days.

    A man from the Black Country has been fined £700 by Telford and Wrekin Council after his caravan was found dumped by the roadside, in Cherrington near Newport.

    The authority said it was filled with rubbish, including large tree stumps, vehicle parts, a gas bottle and electrical equipment.

    The caravan also contained paperwork, including invoices, family photos, concert tickets and employment, bank and DVLA details, which were used to trace the owner.

    The owner, who hasn't been named by the council, admitted having a clear-out and hiring someone to dispose of it all and accepted two fixed penalty notices for fly-tipping and failing to check the credentials of the person he hired.

    A driver is in hospital with head and facial injuries after he was attacked by a gang who stole his car.

    West Midlands Police say they were called to Duddeston Manor Road in Aston at 03:30 this morning.

    The force said it is understood the victim, a 34-year-old man, was in his grey BMW with the group when they turned on him attacking him with weapons.

    Less than a year after a devastating fire destroyed a popular Black Country restaurant, it's now been rebuilt and is set to re-open today.

    Around 100 firefighters tackled the blaze at Hickory's Smokehouse in Wall Heath last summer.

    The fire was caused by an electrical fault in a fridge.

    A ten-week-old puppy has been rehomed after it was found abandoned in a box by a roadside in Berkswell.

    The Dogs Trust charity in Kenilworth was alerted to Peanut's plight by a member of the public.

    A piece of wood had been placed on top of the box to stop the Terrier Cross puppy from escaping.
