  3. Man due in court over 'I've got acid' attackpublished at 10:21 British Summer Time 24 July 2017

    A man has been charged with common assault after a pub-goer heard "I've got acid" moments before being sprayed in the face with a liquid.

    It happened outside a pub in Dickens Heath, Solihull, on 18 July.

    Water from a dog bowl was used to wash the victim's face, although he was uninjured. The substance is thought to have been cleaning fluid.

    Max Kelly, 23, from Smiths Wood, Solihull, is due before magistrates in August.

    A second man, suspected of driving a vehicle in which the attacker was a passenger, has been charged with a public order offence, West Midlands Police said.

    A football club hit by arson and vandalism is calling for volunteers to help with the clear up.

    A fire broke out at Pelsall Villa FC near Walsall just before 04:00 on Sunday morning.

    Repairs were already under way at the club after it was vandalised at the beginning of the month.

  5. Carjacker drives off in woman's car while she's still inside - with a babypublished at 09:26 British Summer Time 24 July 2017

    A man drove off in a woman's car while she was still inside with her baby.

    The West Midlands force has called it a carjacking and this morning appealed for information.

    Police said the man was among a group of four who confronted the driver and demanded she get out of her vehicle when she stopped at traffic lights in Solihull on Saturday.

    As she attended to her baby, he got into the Audi RS6 and drove off.

    She escaped with the infant when he pulled into a side road before driving off again. No-one was hurt.

    The woman had stopped at lights on Lode Lane when the men pulled up behind her at about 18:00.

    Here's a bit of Birmingham-related news you may have missed over the weekend. At the huge entertainment industry show San Diego Comic Con, Steven Spielberg presented the first trailer, external for his next film, Ready Player One.

    Why's that Birmingham news? Well, he filmed part of it in the Second City - refresh your memory here.

    The futuristic sci-fi thriller is based on Ernest Cline's novel about a 1980s-obsessed teenager, who spends all his time logged into a virtual reality game.

    Officers were called to a river near Bourne Street just before 20:30 on Sunday.

    The West Midlands force said officers cordoned off "an area of water".
