    A serial sex attacker, who was jailed in 2004 for seven rapes in a year, is being considered for parole, the Ministry of Justice has confirmed.

    Antoni Imiela, whose victims included a 10-year-old girl he kidnapped at knife-point and put through a five-hour ordeal, was given seven life sentences but has only served just over 13 years.

    The Parole Board confirmed that the Ministry of Justice has referred him for an parole review.

    A spokeswoman said: "The review is following the standard six month process for all indeterminate sentence prisoners and will be reviewed on the papers in the first instance.

    "The review may be concluded on the papers or alternatively it may be directed to an oral hearing.”

    Imiela was previously living in Appledore, Kent and worked in Rye, East Sussex.

    His attacks spanned Forest Hill and Wimbledon Common, London; Ashford, Kent; Earlswood, Woking and Epsom, Surrey; Stevenage, Hertfordshire; and Birmingham.

    A man has been arrested on suspicion of murder after the body of a woman was found in Hereford.

    The woman, in her 50s, was found dead by officers at a property in Highmore Street on Tuesday evening.

    Police say they're treating it as an isolated incident, and ask anyone with information to come forward.

    Four people have arrested as part of an investigation into the supply of drugs in Stratford-upon-Avon.

    Officers seized what they believed to be class A drugs during a search of a flat on Masons Way in the town.

    A 35-year-old man from Stratford was arrested on suspicion of being concerned in the supply of a controlled drug and possession of class A drugs.

    Two 16-year-old boys from Birmingham were arrested on suspicion of possession of class A drugs with intent to supply. One is also under suspicion of supplying a controlled drug.

    A 44-year-old woman from Stratford was also arrested on a warrant for failure to appear at court.

    A chain of academies in Birmingham has been officially disbanded and its five schools handed to other trusts, nearly two years after financial irregularities were first uncovered.

    A report by the Education Funding Agency (EFA) showed financial shortcomings at Perry Beeches Academy.

    Four academies have been handed to a trust which took over two of the so-called Trojan Horse schools. The fifth will be run by the international charity Ark.

    The Air Accidents Investigation Branch has taken away the plane that crashed in Worcestershire on Monday afternoon, killing two men.

    It was on a training flight when it came down on Bredon Hill near Overbury.

    A Sandwell councillor has been found to have broken the authority's code of conduct, over his involvement in the sale of three public toilets.

    A standards committee found Councillor Mahboob Hussain pushed through the sale to a family friend at below the market rate.

    It also found he had instructed council staff to reduce or cancel three parking tickets for his wife and sons.

    A number of weapons have found inside a property in Ruxley Road, Bucknall, Stoke-on-Trent, police said.

    Two roads in the area were closed for most of the day after a reported domestic incident in which a woman had been assaulted and taken to hospital. Police are still trying to trace a male suspect about the incident.Wellington Road has now been reopened and Ruxley Road will reopen shortly.

    Two people have escaped serious injury after a house fire in the Ash Green area his morning.

    They were woken by their fire alarm after the dish washer in their kitchen caught fire.

    The pair were given oxygen to help them recover from breathing in smoke.

    Police say an arrest has been made and more will follow after complaints of anti-social behaviour in Shrewsbury last night, and on Sunday.

    They've been investigating reports that up to 40 teenagers had been causing trouble in and around Barker Street.

    A dispersal order has now been put into force, giving police officers the power to move on anyone under the age of 16 in the area.

    Over-16s can be asked to stay away for 48 hours, or face arrest.

  20. Woman arrested following drugs raidpublished at 18:08 Greenwich Mean Time 10 January 2018

    Police have seized a quantity of what is thought to be heroin from a house in Leek. A 34-year-old woman has been arrested on suspicion of supplying class A drugs.

    Officers raided the property on Beresford Place at 09:20 and have now released the woman while the substances are being tested.
