    West Midlands Police sold off the site on Green Lane, Wallsall last year to Corbally Investments, external for a "mixed use development".

    A firm of demolition experts has now put in an application on the new owner's behalf to demolish the six-storey facility. , external

    It says it'll pave the way for the area to be redeveloped and, assuming they get the go ahead from Walsall Council, they expect to start demolition next month and finish in August., external

    The family of a Worcester woman who died after taking a diet pill overdose have been questioning the quality of the care she received at the Worcestershire Royal Hospital.

    An inquest has been told Beth Shipsey, who was 21 and from Warndon Villages, died in February last year after being moved from a resuscitation area, where she was under constant monitoring, to a nearby cubicle.

    A solicitor representing Miss Shipsey's family told the inquest a set of notes said she was not fit to be moved, but one of the nurses who relocated her to make way for another patient, said she hadn't seen them.

    The inquest continues.

    The death has been announced of a 93-year-old survivor of the Coventry Blitz, Alan Hartley.

    Alan was a 16-year-old Air Raid Precautions messenger at the time of the blitz and told BBC Coventry & Warwickshire about his recollections of being in the city when the raid began.

    He was also well-known in the local sporting scene as a player, referee and umpire.

    According to the obituary in the Coventry Telegraph he died early Christmas morning.

    Efforts are being made to revive a night-time cycle race through the streets of Newport in Shropshire.

    The Newport Nocturne first took place in 1989 and became a regular event, but hasn't taken place for four years.

    A man from Coventry found dead in the French Alps probably died from hypothermia after getting lost, a post-mortem investigation has concluded.

    Owen Lewis was staying in the French town of Risoul and a statement from the state prosecutor said his body was recovered by a search team using a helicopter, close to the bar where he was last seen.

    The statement also said it was able confirm his identity using documents he was carrying and there was no sign of violence.

    Initial tests said there was evidence of alcohol in his system and further tests will be carried out to see if he had taken drugs.

    Eight people have been arrested on suspicion of offences including assisting an offender and violent disorder by officers investigating the murder of Reagan Asbury at a boxing match in Walsall.

    Three have been charged with violent disorder, and one has been charged with assisting an offender.

    Three others remain under investigation, while one has been told he will face no further action.

    Meanwhile, 21 year old Tyrone Andrew of St Helen's Street, Derby has appeared at magistrates this morning charged with the 19 year old's murder. Andrew has been remanded in custody.

    People in Bromsgrove have helped pay for repairs to a local hospice after thieves stole lead from the roof.

    Primrose Hospice on St Godwald's Road said the bill for the repairs, which will involved replacing stonework too, is likely to be around £700.

    The hospice added it was "well on the way" to getting the money required. No services had been affected.

    Coventry City have recalled defender Jordan Turnbull from his loan at Partick Thistle.

    The 23-year-old joined the Scottish Premier League side in July.

    He returns immediately, with a view to Turnbull making a permanent transfer elsewhere in the coming days.

    Two people have been arrested and released as police investigate the possible murder of a 19-year-old woman who lived in Leeds and disappeared 32-years ago.

    Harbans Kaur Lally was last seen in the UK in 1985 and on Monday officers from West Yorkshire Police arrested a 75-year-old man on suspicion of her murder.

    They also arrested a 74-year-old woman on suspicion of conspiracy to murder - both in Gravesend in Kent.

    A 53-year-old man was also arrested on on suspicion of perjury on Monday from the Hay Mills area of Birmingham.

    He has been released under investigation and the older man and woman have been released on police bail.

    Detectives have revealed that they have recently received information about Harbans’ disappearance and suspected murder.

    She was also known as Susan and had the maiden name Ranu and worked at the head office of the Burton Group in Harehills until April 1985, having moved to Leeds from Rugby the year before.

    She had a daughter in July 1985 and was living in Meanwood area.

    Later that year she went back to Rugby and disappeared, possibly after travelling to India.

    Wolves manager Nuno Espirito Santo has been shortlisted for the Championship manager of the month award for December.

    He won the award in November and has built up a large cushion at the top of the table, after collecting four wins and two draws last month.

    Homeowners in the West Midlands saw the value of their properties rise by 5% last year, according to the UK's largest mortgage lender.

    Earlier this week, Halifax said prices across the UK as a whole rose by 2.7% in 2017, less than half the growth rate of 2016.

    Its figures show the West Midlands had the third biggest percentage price rise last year, behind Wales and the East Midlands.

    One swan has been killed and another injured after being shot by an air gun in Stourport-on-Severn.

    The RSPCA says the attack appears to have taken place on Monday night and the body of the dead bird was found by a private pool with a metal pellet lodged in his head.

    The charity called the shootings a "cowardly sadistic offence" and said it was trying to track down the injured swan.

    The RSPCA received 884 calls about airgun incidents in 2017.

    One man has died and another is in a critical condition in hospital after their car hit a tree in Coventry.

    A third man in the car was taken to hospital with less serious injuries after the crash on Binley Road, near the Stoke Green junction, at 06:15 this morning.

    Officers are asking anyone who may have seen the blue Nissan Almera to get in touch.

    A stretch of Binley road remains closed, and diversions are in place.
