    A Staffordshire man has been jailed after admitting he killed a pedestrian in a hit-and-run.

    Taylor, 28, of Ryder Grove, Kidsgrove, didn't stop and only reported the collision the next day when he saw it on Cheshire Police's Facebook page.

    He was jailed for eight months at Chester Crown Court after pleading guilty to causing death by careless or inconsiderate driving, failing to stop and failing to report a collision.

    Police have released a CCTV image of a man (pictured) they are looking to speak to; after a teenage boy was put in a headlock and a 23-year-old man was subjected to homophobic abuse while on a train from London Euston.

    On 23 December the 19:03 Virgin Trains service was travelling to Wolverhampton when at 19:20 the pair were approached while queuing for the toilet.

    The British Transport Police (BTP) say the offender got off the train in Wolverhampton, but told the station manager he was travelling to Shrewsbury.

    The former workplace of a man convicted of plotting a terror attack said there is "no evidence" he attempted to contaminate their food products.

    Munir Mohammed from Leopold Street in Derby worked at the Kerry Foods plant in Burton upon Trent making sauces for ready meals sold in Tesco and Morrisons.

    He is originally from Eritrea and was working illegally in the UK using false documents.

    Yesterday he was found guilty of plotting a "devastating" terror attack using a homemade bomb.

    The Wyre Forest MP Mark Garnier has lost his job as international trade minister as Theresa May continues her reshuffle.

    Government sources have told the BBC that his departure is not related to recent allegations of inappropriate behaviour.

    Last month Mr Garnier was cleared of breaking the ministerial code after a Cabinet Office investigation into allegations of sexual misconduct.

    Mr Garnier has tweeted, external that he is "looking forward to supporting the prime minister's government from the backbenches".

    Meanwhile, the Ludlow MP Philip Dunne has also confirmed he's left the front bench after nine-and-a-half years, losing his post as health minister.

    Former Stoke boss Mark Hughes believes the club's results "will improve in the second half of the season".

    The 54-year-old Welshman was dismissed after last weekend's FA Cup exit at League Two Coventry.

    That followed a run of five defeats in seven league games which dropped the Potters into the relegation zone.

    In a statement, Hughes, who presided over three ninth-place finishes at the club, admitted: "We haven't matched the high standards set in previous years."

    Hughes' assistant Mark Bowen has also left, with coach Eddie Niedzwiecki placed in temporary charge of the first team.

    Former Wolves and England footballer Geoff Thomas paid tribute to "life-saving" medics as he was honored by Birmingham City University yesterday.

    The ex-footballer was awarded an honorary doctorate by the university in recognition of the money has has helped raise for blood cancer charities since recovering from leukaemia.

    Speaking at the ceremony, Geoff Thomas said: “I wouldn’t be here if it wasn’t for a certain Professor Charlie Craddock and his wonderful team.

    "He guided me through a year of treatment, radiotherapy, chemotherapy and through the arduous stem cell transplant which saved my life.”

    A small plane which crashed in Worcestershire yesterday, killing two men, came from a flight training company, the BBC has learnt.

    Gloucestershire Airport says it was operated by the firm Aeros and was heading to the site when it lost contact with air traffic control at about 12:40, coming down on Bredon Hill near Overbury.

    Darren Lewington from the airport said it would be taking part in the investigatory process "as it unfolds" and said it could take several months.

    The International Twenty20 Series takes place in Australia and New Zealand between 3 and 21 February. England's first match is against Australia on 7 February in Hobart.

    The former Aga foundry in Coalbrookdale in Shropshire has been put up for sale.

    Production there stopped in November after the US-owned firm said the base was "no longer economically viable".

    As yet there's no price tag or any indication as to who might be interested but Aga says it will make any buyer aware of the site's historical significance.

    The 50-year-old was appointed following Justine Greening's decision to resign from the government after refusing the role in Theresa May's cabinet reshuffle.

    Liverpool-born McVey was elected to the Cheshire constituency in last year's general election.

    A court is due to hear an application today to extend an injunction banning so-called car cruising events across the Black Country.

    West Midlands Police and four councils - Wolverhampton, Walsall, Dudley and Sandwell - were successful in gaining a three-year ban in 2015.

    Since then, 17 people have been convicted of participating in, or organising, car cruising; receiving fines or suspended prison sentences for their part.

    A three-year extension to the injunction is being sought at Birmingham District Registry of the High Court.

    Six people, including one from Wolverhampton, are due to appear before Westminster Magistrates' Court today charged with belonging to banned far-right terror group National Action.

    West Midlands Police said the five men and a woman were charged with being "concerned in the commission, preparation and instigation of acts of terrorism".

    The arrests took place on 3 January and were pre-planned and intelligence-led, the force added.
