    A fire service is sharing offices with police at the West Mercia headquarters at Hindlip in Worcestershire.

    The Police and Crime Commissioner for West Mercia, John Campion, said the move would cut costs and make both emergency services more effective.

    Earlier this year Mr Campion got permission from the Home Office to take over from the Hereford and Worcester and Shropshire fire authorities.

    But the two fire authorities have taken that decision to a judicial review, which is still ongoing.

    A survey of fish fingers by the Herefordshire-based Marine Conservation Society has found 85% of the fish used comes from sustainable sources.

    The Good Fish Finger Guide rated 48 different fish fingers, and the society said it was "pleasantly surprised" by its findings.

    The society was also surprised to find some supermarket saver-brands turned out to be the most sustainable.

    Police are trying to identify two men who were filmed being racially abusive in a Crewe supermarket.

    The video, which has been shared online, was filmed at the ASDA in the Victoria Centre in Crewe and shows a man with his dog making offensive remarks.

    A fatal house fire which claimed the lives of two young people near Worcester was caused by an electrical fault, Hereford and Worcester Fire Service has concluded.

    The bodies of 21-year-old Josh Kirk and 18-year-old swimmer Tazmin Pugh were found at the property at Cotheridge on Sunday.

    The fire service said it appeared an unwound electrical extension reel under furniture had overheated.

    A proposed scheme to redevelop the former Birmingham Municipal Bank will be considered by planners next week.

    The University of Birmingham secured a long-term lease of the Grade II-listed building from the city council 12 months ago, and have submitted plans to turn it into a teaching facility.

    The bank, built in the 1930s, is one of one of only three surviving buildings from the council's original plans for Centenary Square, along with the Hall of Memory and Baskerville House.

    The bank has been closed since 1998.

    The city council's planning committee will consider the plans , externalat a meeting on 8 November.

    A teenage boy has denied a charge of attempted murder following an incident where a man was stabbed.

    The 22-year-old was found with serious stab wounds in an alleyway off Heeley Road, Selloy Oak, in October following an attempted carjacking.

    A 15-year-old boy pleaded not guilty to the charge at Birmingham Crown Court and a 17-year-old boy also denied six counts of attempted robbery.

    A trial date of 1 April 2019 was set.

    Robin Hood, from Shirley, near Birmingham, is walking more than 400 miles, from Scotland to the cenotaph in London, whilst pulling a 20 stone statue of a World War One soldier behind him.

    The man named as the prime suspect for the murder of Suzy Lamplugh said he hopes the search of his mother's former home will end the speculation over his involvement.

    John Cannan said he had no idea why the search has come now, with the development coming "out of the blue".

    His solicitor told the Press Association: "John Cannan continues to deny involvement in the 1986 disappearance of estate agent Suzy Lamplugh.

    "Mr Cannan hopes that the search of his mother's former home will conclude swiftly so as to bring to an end speculation as to his involvement in this matter."

    Another Black Country council has announced it has no intention of setting up a clean air zone after it was suggested the scheme should be extended.

    Dudley has joined its neighbour Sandwell in putting the brakes on an idea to charge drivers of older petrol and diesel vehicles up to £10 to enter a designated area.

    Think-tank Bright Blue said Birmingham’s clean air zone could be extended to “all relevant parts of the West Midlands Combined Authority”, including the Black Country, Coventry and Solihull, but this was rejected by the council.

    However, the council said it was keen to work closely with Birmingham and other neighbouring authorities to understand what impact any potential clean air zone might have.

    Birmingham's scheme is due to come into effect in January 2020, charging between £6 and £10 per day on cars, and up to £100 a day on HGVs and similar vehicles.
