    A man has admitted carrying out cyber-attacks on two police force websites.

    Liam Reece Watts, 20, admitted launching deliberate denial of service (DDoS) attacks on Greater Manchester and Cheshire police.

    At Chester Crown Court, he pleaded guilty to two counts of unauthorised acts with intent to impair operation of or prevent access to a computer.

    Watts, of Stratford Road, Chorley was remanded in custody and will be sentenced on 28 June.

    DDoS attacks involve flooding a target's service with extremely high volumes of traffic in an effort to overwhelm them.

    Two teenagers have been charged with robbery following two carjackings in Coventry on Wednesday.

    The 18-year-old and a boy aged 16, both from the city, have each been charged with two counts of the offence.

    The carjackngs happened on Wednesday morning in Middlemarch Road and Grangemouth Road, said West Midlands Police.

    The pair are due before magistrates today.

    Worcester Warriors have made Blues and Northland hooker Matt Moulds their seventh new signing for the 2019/20 season.

    The 27-year-old will become Warriors' second signing from Super Rugby side Blues after winger Melani Nanai.

    A man injured in a hit-and-run crash in Birmingham at the weekend has died, police say.

    Trevor 'Gordon' Caldicott was struck by a car on Washwood Heath Road, Ward End, just before 21:20 on Saturday.

    The 81-year-old was taken to hospital with head injuries but died on Tuesday after his condition deteriorated, according to the West Midlands force.

    He was described as a "truly wonderful father and grandfather" by his family which has appealed for the driver to "do the right thing" and come forward.

    An image of Gordon in hospital has been released in a bid to make the driver "think about the consequences of this collision", say police.

    A teenager from Stoke-on-Trent has appeared at crown court this morning, charged with murdering 18-year-old Megan Newton.

    She was found dead at her flat on Fletcher Road in the city on Saturday and 18-year-old Joseph Trevor from Trentham was charged on Monday.

    Crews tackling a house fire in Wolverhampton are making "good progress," the fire service says.

    Crews were called to the Burland Avenue property shortly after 08:45.

    About 20 firefighters have been on site.

    One man who left the property was treated with oxygen by the fire service, before being checked-over by paramedics.

    Armed police have arrested two men in Stoke-on-Trent on suspicion of possessing a firearm.

    Officers were called to Grange Street in the Cobridge area at 10:00 and said the two men were aged 45 and 46.

    A country road in Cheshire has been closed since last night after cash was found there.

    Cheshire Police said it was called to reports of suspicious activity on Mow Lane in Astbury at about 22:20.

    Officers have been searching the area between Biddulph and Congleton to find out the money's origin.

    It is not known how much cash has been found.

    Police say they've caught 133 drivers using a mobile phone at the wheel during the first week of a crackdown in Shropshire, Herefordshire and Worcestershire.

    The West Mercia force campaign started on 15 April and is due to run until 28 April. Motorists spotted using a handheld mobile phone while driving face a £200 fine and six points on their licence.

    The force said that since 2016 there were four fatalities, 15 serious injuries and 54 slight injuries in its policing area where mobile phone use was recorded as a factor.

  19. Teen 'seriously' injured in city stabbingpublished at 11:29 British Summer Time 25 April 2019

    A teenager suffered "serious" injuries in a Birmingham alleyway stabbing on Wednesday afternoon.

    The 18-year-old was attacked by two men between Pendragon Road and Wilmcote Road in Perry Barr at about 17:25, police said.

    He was seriously injured and treated at the scene before being taken to hospital, according to the ambulance service.

    West Midlands Police said the injury - to his buttock - was not believed to be life-threatening.
