    A report into Coventry's Co-op store says the building is probably the most compete and unaltered post-war shopfront in the city centre.

    Councillors are being recommended to add the store to the list of buildings of local architectural or historical interest. 

    The report says no planning applications have been received for the site although prospective purchasers have expressed their desire to demolish the building to erect two 12-storey towers of student accommodation.

    Great Britain bobsledder Joel Fearon runs 100m in 9.96 seconds at the English Athletics Championships, becoming the joint-third fastest Briton over the distance, behind Linford Christie and James Dasaolu.

    American Jimmy Walker won his first major with a one-shot victory at the Baltusrol competition.

    The old Co-op store in Coventry's Corporation Street could be given partial protection from future development by the city council.

    The planning committee is recommended to give local listed status , externalto the building which opened in 1956.

    The business ceased trading in October last year.

    Officers are working to establish their identity and inform family members.

    The ambulance service says it was called to Truggist Lane near Berkswell Station, Solihull, at 13:13 to reports of a train hitting a pedestrian.

    Services from Birmingham to Coventry have been affected. Disruption could last until 15:30.

    Delays are expected to last until around 15:30 after what National Rail has described as an 'incident' - attended by emergency services - between Birmingham International and Coventry.

    Bobsledder Joel Fearon says he's as surprised as everyone else after recording the third fastest-ever time by a British man in the 100 metres.

    He says his sprint coach Michael Khmel has brought him into "amazing shape" and despite not qualifying for Team GB in Rio, he'll be "supporting them all the way".

    "Bobsleigh is a massive part of the puzzle for me," he said, "they've helped me achieve such dreams so it wouldn't be a case of switching."

    "But I can't write off athletics, doing something like that changes my outlook on life."

    'Spurious' calls to the 101 non-emergency police hotline include complaints over botch-job haircuts, piles of poo and loud ice cream van chimes. 

    The calls were made last month during what the West Midlands force has labelled a "summer spike".

    Callers have also complained about wonky internet connections and asked for other phone numbers.

    A spokesperson said: "We take literally hundreds of spurious calls a month…these take up valuable police time and delay us dealing with genuine police matters. Many of the queries could be resolved with a simple internet search so our message is 'think before you call'."
