    For most governors of a central bank nothing could be further from their comfort zone than appearing in front of a hall full of 12-18 year olds being asked everything from what's the point of money to name your favourite chocolate.

    Mark Carney had that experience today and the pupils from Whitley Academy in Coventry expressed surprise that he was "cool" and "informal" and "answered everything".

    He's been with the club for 11 years, winning three league titles at Brandon. 

    He's written to the club saying he thinks it's time to move on.

    A man exposed himself to a 14-year-old girl, external as she was walking home from school in Wellesbourne, say police.

    A man, driving a small red, convertable car, approached the girl just after 15:00 on Tuesday in Baker Drive, close to Stratford Road.

    Investigating officer PC Anita Dyer said it was a "distressing" incident.

  11. Mark Carney describes 'toughest day' as Bank governorpublished at 16:30 British Summer Time 16 September 2016

    Dealing with the immediate result of the Brexit referendum produced Mark Carney's "toughest day" in his job.

    The governor of the Bank of England made his comments when answering questions from children in Coventry as part of the BBC's School Report.

    Mr Carney said he had been worried about the Bank's complex plans, external for dealing with the referendum aftermath.

    "The reason that was a tough day [overnight and on the morning of the referendum result] was not because of the result, but because we had put in place a bunch of plans... for either outcome," he said.

    Some good news at last for rail passengers today, the fallen tree's been removed from the line between Banbury and Leamington Spa.

    Motorists who drive too close to cyclists as they overtake are being targeted by police officers on bikes.

    The officers on two wheels will radio patrol car colleagues to intercept "close-pass drivers".

    Drivers who transgress will initially be offered warnings at the roadside.

    Repeat offenders, or anyone deemed to have driven "dangerously close," can expect to be prosecuted for driving without due care and attention, the West Midlands force says.

    The head of a drugs gang who conspired to break a man out of jail has been ordered to pay back £1.3m he made from crime.

    Jailed for six years for his involvement in the plot to spring criminal John Anslow from a prison van, Stuart Reid - dubbed a "Coventry crime lord" by West Midlands Police - is also serving 14 years after being convicted of supplying drugs and committing a £127,000 fraud.

    Detectives have used legislation under the Proceeds of Crime Act to try to recoup cash, external.

    He was told to pay back £1,319,427.43 after being handed a confiscation order at Leicester Crown Court today.

    Diane James has been elected as the new leader of the UK Independence Party.

    West Midlands MEP Bill Etheridge was on the ballot, but Ms James had been regarded as the favourite and will succeed Nigel Farage who quit as leader following the UK's vote to leave the EU.

    More rail delays, this time due to a tree blocking the railway between Leamington Spa and Banbury.

    Operator Chiltern Railways says disruption is expected until around 16:00 with services being delayed or cancelled.
