    A Vegan brewery in Coventry, Twisted Barrel, has been named for the first time in the Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA) good beer guide.

    CAMRA is calling on more breweries not to use the fish ingredient isinglass - a product that makes beer clear.

    Twisted Barrel owner Tim Bosworth, a long-term vegetarian who went vegan two years ago, said he was shocked when he first learned about the ingredient.

    "It's kind of disgusting to think about, even to people who eat meat, and it's something that's not talked about," he said.

    "Nobody really wants to advertise that they filter their beer through dead fish."

    The husband of a cancer patient who died two days after a medical procedure says he was not told her death could have been a result of surgical error until he was approached three months after the op by the BBC.

    The hospital trust later wrote to Andy O'Hara whose wife Deborah had a kidney removed at University Hospital Coventry during which the blood supply from two arteries was cut off - a procedure not part of the surgery.

    "It was devastating to everyone; friends, family, the kids. It's just been awful," Mr O'Hara said.

    Kare Adenegan has won her second medal of the Paralympics with a bronze in the T34 400m final, won by teammate Hannah Cockroft.

    The Coventry Godiva athlete said to win a medal in two events was "amazing".

    The family of a cancer patient who died two days after undergoing a medical procedure was not told about a surgical error during the operation.

    Deborah O'Hara had a kidney removed at University Hospital Coventry and blood supply from two arteries was cut off, a procedure not part of the surgery.

    The coroner's office said it had not been told about the mistake when the hospital reported the June 2015 death.

    University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire NHS Trust has apologised.

    West Midlands Police hopes guidance in the form of graffiti on cell walls will help cut reoffending rates. 

    The force is working with psychologists on various interventions, dubbed ‘nudges’, including a stenciled letter from an ex-offender that tells those kept in cells “it’s never too late” to change.

    Reoffending rates among detainees who've seen the "guidance" will be compared to those held in “standard” cells.

    Chief Superintendent Alex Murray said: "Small changes alone may not make a huge difference but the cumulative effect of many nudges can mean less victims of crime and that is what West Midlands Police is all about.”

  11. Plans revealed for relocation of Warwick girl's schoolpublished at 09:45 British Summer Time 15 September 2016

    Plans have been unveiled to move King's High School for girls in Warwick from the current town centre site it has occupied since it began in 1879.

    The Warwick Independent Schools Foundation has drawn up plans to co-locate the school on the campus that's home to Warwick School and Warwick Preparatory School.

    Under proposals, the project would be completed over the next three years, with the town centre redeveloped by the Foundation at the end of the project.

    Hannah Cockcroft won gold in the T34 400m final in a world-record time of 58.78 seconds to add to her 100m victory.  

    The Coventry University student will go for a third medal in the 800m on Friday.

    Coventry teenager Kare Adenegan claimed bronze in the same 400m event.

    A CCTV image has been released of a man police want to speak to after a car was vandalised in Southam with a green liquid, external which caused paint to "bubble up".

    Warwickshire Police say two people went up to the white Mercedes on 16 August on Manders Croft and one of them is believed to have put the liquid on it.

    The force says the vehicle suffered "extensive damage" and they want to speak to the man in connection with the incident.
