  1. Coventry Cathedral to host city-born film-maker's workpublished at 17:39 British Summer Time 14 September 2016

    A documentary made by a Coventry-born film-maker exploring life and death in the nuclear age is being shown at the city's Cathedral tonight, external

    It's called 'Atomic: Living In Dread' and has already been shown in Hiroshima and Chernobyl.

    Mark Cousins, who was born in Coventry and baptised at the Cathedral, said he was looking forward to being back in his home city.  

    The screening is accompanied by a live soundtrack performed by the Scottish rock band Mogwai.

    A new report says more needs to be done to get people out of their cars, a story we'll be covering on BBC Midlands Today this evening. 

    It says there are more and more traffic jams in the West Midlands and fewer people using the bus.

    The motorcyclist involved in the crash on the M6 this afternoon has died.

    West Midlands Ambulance Service says he was found in cardiac arrest at the scene and was flown to Coventry's University Hospital, but was pronounced dead on arrival.

    The accident on the M6 southbound between junctions two and one has been cleared and all lanes have now reopened, but you're being warned there is still very heavy traffic in the area.

    It goes back as far as junction three for the Catthorpe Interchange.

    Drivers planning to drive south on the M6 past Coventry are being urged to find an alternative route as the carriageway between junctions 2 and 1 is still shut this afternoon.

    Warwickshire Police tweeted that there's heavy congestion in the area, external after a serious crash involving a lorry, a car and a motorbike.

    Stratford cyclist Megan Giglia, who won Britain's first gold medal of the Paralympic Games on the track last week, has not added to her total.

    The 31-year-old, who has paralysis on the right side of her body after a stroke, has finished sixth in the C1-3 road time trial.

    Cop Swaps is based on neighbourhood police officers in the Perry Barr area of Birmingham and it's hoped 6,000 pupils will take up the game. 

    Each card includes a rating, based on rank, police power and speed and a safety or anti-violence message that children will need to remember to win the card.

    Warwickshire Police say the southbound M6 between junction 2 for Coventry and 1 for Rugby is likely to remain closed for some time after a serious collision.

    The accident involved a lorry, car and a motorbike. 

    Diversions are in place.

    The Bears don't have a County Championship match ahead of Saturday's game against Surrey at Lords.

    They're on advertising hoardings and have the words "Legal Name Fraud" in great big letters

    BBC journalist Jon Kelly has been investigating them over the summer. He says he's tried to establish who paid for the adverts - but it's all a bit of a mystery.

    BBC Weather Watcher Dark Ivy, who sent in this snap, noted the temperature was a hot 31C (87F).

    We hear from the family of Akhtar Javeed who was killed during a robbery in Birmingham.  

    Suraj Mistry, 26, was found guilty at Birmingham Crown Court ofmanslaughter and possession of a firearm. 

    Mistry, of Laundon Way, Leicester, was also convicted of plotting to commit robbery along with Lemar Wali, 19. Both men were found not guilty of murder.

  20. HS2 time frame 'overly ambitious'published at 12:11 British Summer Time 14 September 2016

    There's concern that HS2 won't be ready by 2026, with a group of MPs suggesting the current schedule is "overly ambitious". 

    The Public Accounts committee says it is not convinced that the first phase of the £56bn rail line through Warwickshire will open on time. 

    Their report says that while the government feels the project is on schedule, even the company charged with delivering link is only 60% confident it will happen in time.
