St John's House museum, in Warwick, could be closed under proposed council budget cuts.
A consultation is currently running looking at 43% cuts to Warwickshire's culture budget in order to save £67m by 2020.
Council leader Izzi Seccombe said any decisions would be made on an "informed basis".

The former government minister Michael Portillo says it's about time the UK got on with dealing with Brexit rather than politicians "still whinging about it".
Speaking on a trip to Coventry, the former defence minister said he believed leaving the European Union was great for business here and the EU would need the UK to help it out of its own financial problems.
"The British people have made a decision," he said, "and we have to execute it as best as we possibly can".
"What we're actually seeing is many people now trying to resist the government's attempts to trigger Article 50 and I think all of that is unhelpful."

Internet speeds in Coventry are set to be boosted with a £2.5m investment in superfast broadband.
“We want to encourage businesses to locate in Coventry, creating employment,” the city council's cabinet member for finance John Mutton told me.
The plans still need to go to the Labour group for approval and are thought likely to be implemented next year.
The Conservative opposition group leader John Blundell welcomed the news, but said everybody in Coventry should have superfast broadband.
“I don’t know how far that’s going to go,” he said, questioning whether the £2.5m would be enough.
“Any housing development should have, as a planning condition, superfast broadband.”
The Polish owner of a Coventry shop destroyed in a suspected arson attack says he can't understand why it was targeted.
Norbet Krupan, who opened the shop in Willenhall a year ago, said the fire had left him "devastated".
