    Coventry City chairman Tim Fisher has told a fans group the club has to continue selling players to make ends meet, even though the financial position has improved

    The club has published the minutes of its latest meeting, external with the supporters consultative group, at which Fisher revealed the club's operating loss before player sales has fallen from £3.8m to £1.7m this year.

    He added the club needed to own its stadium and said there were credible plans to move to Coventry Rugby club's Butts Park Arena, but these were on hold due to what he called a "political embargo".

    He said this was in place from Coventry City Council while the club's owners Sisu continued with legal action against the authority.

  3. Future of Coventry City debated in Westminsterpublished at 08:43 British Summer Time 11 October 2016

    A fans' charter will be presented to MPs today as they debate the future of Coventry City Football Club in Parliament.

    The Sky Blues are bottom of League One and supporters are planning to boycott a match in protest at the owners' management of the club. 

    The debate at Westminster Hall has been organised by local MP Jim Cunningham, who wants the government and Football League to intervene on a number of issues.

  10. Report identifies concerns for Warwickshire’s mental health servicespublished at 16:48 British Summer Time 10 October 2016

    Delays in accessing mental health services and a lack of understanding about treatment plans are problems highlighted in a report by Healthwatch Warwickshire, external.

    Researchers looked at mental health services in the county and also raised concerns about poor co-ordination between GPs and health services and a general lack of mental health understanding by doctors.

    Len Mackin, from the organisation, said the "hard hitting" report contained a number of recommendations on how to improve the service at every stage. 

  11. Police Taser M6 crash driverpublished at 16:09 British Summer Time 10 October 2016

    Police used a Taser to detain the driver of a car involved in a crash on the M6 southbound earlier.

    They say concerns were raised for the driver's safety following "threats he made to himself and others" after the single-vehicle crash between junctions two and one.

    He was taken to hospital for treatment following injuries in the collision and, they say, no arrests have been made.

  12. I felt pretty invisible: Pro boxer talks of depression to highlight campaignpublished at 15:54 British Summer Time 10 October 2016

    Former Coventry City footballer and professional boxer Leon McKenzie said he felt invisible, isolated and very alone during a period of depression which led to a suicide attempt.

    He was speaking to highlight a new campaign by mental health charity Mind - It Takes Balls to Talk.

    Suicide is the main cause of death in men under the age of 50 in the West Midlands.

    For the first time, cameras have gone behind the scenes of a top secret location in the West Midlands which houses everyone's wills.

    The warehouse holds 41 million documents, including those of famous Midlanders and celebrities. 

    It also contains the wills of almost 300,000 soldiers, some of which were written on the battlefields of World War One.

  14. Type 2 diabetes: Data shows spread of diseasepublished at 15:24 British Summer Time 10 October 2016

    Data analysis shows at the current rate of growth, it's predicted there will be five million people with type 2 diabetes in 2020 - five years earlier than anticipated. 

    The boroughs of Nuneaton and Bedworth and North Warwickshire have been named as two of England's hotspots where the most prescriptions are issued.

    Data analysis company Exasol, external said the data showed in the first six months of 2016, the number of prescriptions for type 2 diabetes was already up by more than 8% compared with the same period the year before. 

    There are estimated to be 3.5 million adults with type 2 diabetes in the UK.

  15. Critically injured player clashed with team goalkeeperpublished at 14:22 British Summer Time 10 October 2016

    Rugby Town player Elliot Palmer was involved in a collision with fellow teammate, goalkeeper Louis Connor, said club official Tony Mann.

    "The ball was running back to our keeper... who was rushing out," he said.  

    "It was a 50/50 ball and one of their strikers was also going for it and Elliot collided with our keeper."

    The club says the defender is in good spirits and hoping to move out of the critical care unit today.
