  3. Residents fight Browns Lane depot planspublished at 09:34 Greenwich Mean Time 22 November 2016

    Campaigners are fighting plans to build a major distribution depot on the site of the old Jaguar factory at Browns Lane in Coventry. 

    The developer, Goodman, says the scheme at Lyons Park could bring in to the area as many as 1,600 jobs. 

    But campaigners fear local roads won't be able to cope with up to 500 lorry movements a day.

  6. Flood alerts issued for Warwickshirepublished at 08:07 Greenwich Mean Time 22 November 2016

    There are nine flood alerts on rivers in Warwickshire after heavy rain.

    The Environment Agency says rivers including the Avon at Warwick, Rugby and Stratford as well as the Leam at Eathorpe are all running high.

  9. Man left in critical condition after being hit by a buspublished at 17:55 Greenwich Mean Time 21 November 2016

    A Pedestrian was hit by a bus in Nuneaton this morning, leaving him in a critical condition, the ambulance service says.

    The crash happened at the junction of Avenue Road and Attleborough Road in the town at about 07:05.

    The man, believed to be in his 60s, suffered multiple serious injuries.

    Jaguar Landrover's plans to expand its West Midlands base is a "massive vote of confidence in Britain's long-term future", the Prime Minister has told business leaders. 

    The car giant is investing £550m pounds in its research and development plant at Whitley in Warwickshire, creating thousands of new jobs in the process. 

    In a speech to the Confederation of British Industry this morning, Theresa May said her new industrial strategy was aimed at tackling the UK economy's weaknesses.

    A West Midlands Police recruitment drive opens today as the force looks to enlist 1,150 staff, including 800 officers by 2020.

    More than 10,000 people have already registered their interest. 

    The force says it hopes people from all different backgrounds will apply so it can better reflect the diversity of the region.

  16. Motorcycle 'leathers' saved rider from more serious injurypublished at 16:24 Greenwich Mean Time 21 November 2016

    A motorcyclist suffered a badly broken leg after crashing with a Volvo 4x4 vehicle in Alcester this morning., external

    The 36-year-old was taken to hospital after the collision outside the sewerage works on Alcester Bypass at about 07:55.

    The ambulance service said the fact he was wearing full protective gear saved him from more serious injury.
