    A pedestrian is in a critical condition after being hit by a 7.5 tonne goods vehicle on Dunchurch Road, Rugby, police say., external

    The man, in his 60s, was taken to University Hospital after sustaining serious injures in the crash at about 15:45 yesterday.

    Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) will find out today whether it can build a new plant in Coventry.

    Council officers have recommended the application, external be approved for what would be the first big step in JLR's expansion plans. 

    The company wants to build the next generation of electric cars and their batteries in Coventry.

  8. New play area for Leamington recreation groundpublished at 17:50 Greenwich Mean Time 18 January 2017

    A new play area and footpaths are being installed in the Villiers Street Recreation Ground in Leamington Spa, the council says.

    Warwick District Council says it will also be carrying out "significant tree work", to improve the health of the trees and to open up the views in the area.

    Starting on the 23 January the play area will be closed off for three weeks. The site will then be completely closed for two weeks in February for the footpath work.  

  9. Plan setting out where 13,000 new houses are to be built published onlinepublished at 17:41 Greenwich Mean Time 18 January 2017

    A new plan for Nuneaton and Bedworth, setting out, among other things, where about 13,000 houses will be built, will be discussed by councillors later this month.

    If approved by the council, the borough plan will then be subject to a six-week public consultation, starting on the 30 January.

  11. Rolling road block as car swerves along motorwaypublished at 17:26 Greenwich Mean Time 18 January 2017

    An ambulance crew had to form a rolling road block to prevent a serious accident after a car was seen weaving across the M6 in Coventry, external this afternoon, the ambulance service say. 

    West Midlands Ambulance Service say the car was spotted continually crashing into roadside barriers by an ambulance crew.

    The driver, a man in his 50s, "was suffering a medical episode that as a result meant he was not aware of what was happening", a spokesman said.

    After the car finally stopped following a "significant collision with the barrier", the driver was treated for chest, abdominal and shoulder pain, before being taken to the University Hospital Coventry and Warwickshire.

  12. Plans for new city centre car parkspublished at 17:06 Greenwich Mean Time 18 January 2017

    Plans for two new multi-storey car parks in Coventry city centre to be discussed by councillors.

    Coventry City Council say one would be built on the current Salt Lane car park (pictured), with a second replacing the New Union Street multi-storey and the neighbouring Cheylesmore surface car-park.

    The new car-park at Salt Lane will be built first, at a cost of around £10.7m - councillors will be asked to give their approval to the scheme at a meeting on 24 January.They will also be asked to approve the principle of developing a second multi-storey car park at New Union Street to follow that work.

  17. Man seriously injured after being dragged down road during robberypublished at 14:45 Greenwich Mean Time 18 January 2017

    A car dealer was seriously injured after being dragged 10m (30ft) down the road by a man who stole a van, external, police say.

    Warwickshire police say the victim agreed to meet a man who'd asked to test drive the van (pictured) and they drove to Galliford Try Construction on Leicester Road, near Wolvey.

    While they changed places, the man then locked the car dealer out of the van and drove off, colliding with him in the process.

    The victim suffered serious injuries to his leg, torso, head and back, police say. He is currently in a serious but stable condition in hospital.
