    Motorists are being allowed to drive on one of Coventry's bus lanes from today. 

    The London Road bus lane is the first to be decommissioned in a nine-month trial scheme.

    Altogether a third of the city'[s bus lanes are being taken out to see if traffic flow improves.

    Atherstone's last hatting warehouse is to be re-developed as housing. 

    Plans for the Britannia Works, which shut in 1999, were approved by North Warwickshire Council last night.

      The development will see about 60 flats and homes built on the Coleshill Road site.

  4. West Midlands has the second highest number of illegal dog fights in the countrypublished at 12:25 Greenwich Mean Time 18 January 2017

    New figures show the West Midlands has the second highest number of organised illegal dog fights anywhere in the country.

    In the last 10 years there were 469 reported cases in the region. 

    The RSPCA and the All-Party Parliamentary Group for Animal Welfare are calling for tougher sentences for offenders. 

    Currently the maximum sentence is six months in prison.

    Jephson Gardens in Leamington Spa have been given a special award for being an inspirational park.

  6. Stratford-upon-Avon Library to temporarily close for 'essential work'published at 11:47 Greenwich Mean Time 18 January 2017

    The library in Stratford-upon-Avon is to close temporarily from Saturday, 21 January, external for "essential works", Warwickshire County Council say.

    The building in Henley Street needs electrical and piping work.

    After the work is completed, the Warwickshire County Council Registration Service will be relocating to the library, which will reopen in the summer with longer opening hours and a new look, the council say.

    A 37-year-old man from Coventry is due at magistrates in Warwickshire this morning charged in connection with an incident at a Sikh temple in Leamington. 

    Kulvinder Bir Singh, from Tilehurst Avenue, is charged with racially aggravated criminal damage and criminal damage to property.

    A World War Two veteran from Stratford is being given one of France's highest honours today. 

    George Mead, who is 92, was wounded in the Normandy campaign to liberate Europe. 

    He'll be presented with the Legion D'Honeur.

    The new headquarters for Coventry City Council will now be shared because no other tenants have come forward. 

    The multi-million pound Friargate project will see the council move in with the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS).

    500 fewer council staff will be re-locating from the city centre.
