    BBC Radio Sheffield reports that the former Coventry boss, 53, will sign a deal with the League One strugglers in the next 24 hours.

    Two masked men attempted to rob money from the Heart of England Co-op in Wellesbourne this morning, police say.

    After entering the store and demanding access to the safe, they eventually left empty handed.

    Two people have been taken to hospital following a crash on the A46 near Stratford-on-Avon says the ambulance service.

    It was called to the scene close to the A422 Alcester Road junction, around 12:30.

    A man in his 40s suffered neck and arm pain and a woman, also in her 40s, was treated for an abdominal injury.

    Multiple vehicles are involved in the collision that has closed the A46 both ways in Warwickshire between A422 Alcester Road and A435 near Stratford-upon-Avon.

    Schools in the Coventry South constituency will face a 14% funding cut of around £588 per pupil - the worst in the city - under the government's new National Funding Formula, say teaching unions

    An alliance of six unions representing school staff have published a "league table", external of England's 533 Parliamentary constituencies, showing that schools in each one stand to lose out under the plan.  

    It says this amounts to an average loss of £339 for every primary pupil and £477 for every secondary pupil.  

    The leader of Coventry City Council joined 23 others in writing to the government to express concerns , externalabout the impact of the proposed school funding formula on the "life chances of our residents".

    A scheme aiming to protect vulnerable people and those with suicidal thoughts on the West Midlands railway network, external will be rolled-out across Coventry and Warwickshire.

    Rail Pastors – an initiative made up of trained volunteers from local churches – will initially patrol platforms and trains on the line between Stourbridge and Birmingham Snow Hill.

    It's a bid to support police officers who last year, British Transport Police said, attended more than 460 mental health incidents, 21 suspected suicides and six people who are believed to have deliberately harmed themselves on the railway.

    Firefighters have brought a fire at a city centre restaurant under control.

    They were tackling a blaze in the kitchen extraction unit at Bayleys in Bayley Lane, Coventry.

    The fire service says the area around the venue is likely to be cordoned-off until this afternoon as they inspect the building.

    It says around 10% of the building has been damaged.

    The fire service says it has around 20 firefighters tackling a blaze in Bayleys restaurant next to Coventry Cathedral on Bayley Lane.

    Crews were called at about 07:47 to deal with a fire in the kitchen extraction unit but say the fire then spread to the upper floors of the building.

    A BBC investigation has uncovered people selling unwanted or unused drugs, which can only be prescribed by specialists.

    An eBay spokesperson confirmed it had removed a number of listings for sale from the site.
