    The secretary of a Leamington Football Club fan group says he's cautiously optimistic about the future.

    It's after councillors approved plans for a new 5000-seat stadium to be built in the town. 

    Proposals for Warwick District Council to acquire the club's current home in Harbury Lane were also approved, with the land identified as a possible traveller site.

    Police are appealing for information, external following an aggravated burglary in Warwick.

    It happened at a house in Yardley Close on Wednesday evening. 

    Three men were reported to have entered the house demanding money from the occupants before carrying out a search of the property and leaving.

  14. 'Stinger' used by police to stop car on M5published at 17:18 British Summer Time 13 April 2017

    A "stinger" device has been used to stop a car on the M5 which was believed to have been stolen during a burglary on the Wirral in Merseyside, police say.

    Motorway police started to pursue the car just outside Worcester at 06:00 this morning as it travelled northbound on the M5.

    West Midlands Police say that despite have its tyres deflated by the stinger the car still continued around the junction 2 roundabout at Oldbury (pictured) and veered the wrong way down the southbound slip road before officers were able to bring it to a halt.

    Police say a 27-year-old man from Liverpool was arrested on suspicion of burglary, dangerous driving and failing to stop for police.

    A 24-year-old man who was a passenger, also from Liverpool, was arrested on suspicion of burglary.

    A 25-year-old man, also a passenger in the vehicle, was arrested but taken to hospital with minor injuries and will be questioned later, a spokesman says.

    The family of a postman whose body was found in a ditch have described life since his death as a "nightmare".

    The body of David Charles Lamont was found by a member of the public by the side of Burrow Hill Lane, in Corley, Warwickshire, on 23 October.

    Kamaljit Singh Dhaliwal, 54, of Holland Road, Coventry, was found not guilty of murder but guilty of manslaughter and jailed earlier this month.

    In a statement, Mr Lamont's family said: "The past five months following David's tragic death have been an absolute nightmare.

    "He had so much to live for; hopes, dreams and desires. All ripped away from him by a man too selfish to tell the truth.

    "I don't think we will ever know what really happened to him or why. That hurts, but I hope now our family can finally mourn and really lay him to rest."

    Jaguar Land Rover has scooped two prizes at the world car awards in New York.

    The car giant, which has factories in Coventry, Solihull and Wolverhampton, picked up 'world car design of the year' and 'world car of the year' for the Jaguar F-PACE. 

    The performance SUV is the fastest-selling model the firm has produced.

    Bakery The Steamhouse began selling 'hot cross bagels' in a bid to offer something a bit different during the period. 

    The owners say the bagels have proved so popular they are struggling to meet demand.

    An initiative created to make Coventry a world leader in rugby is marking its first birthday.

    The 'Coventry, a City of Rugby' project launched 12 months ago.

    The project, called Coventry, a City of Rugby, was set up last April to encourage more people to play the sport, improve facilities and attract major events to the city. 

    Organisers say it's resulted in more than 60,000 people of all ages participating in or watching a form of rugby-related activity in the past 12 months.
