  2. Sky Blues season tickets: 'Club would make more money with lower prices'published at 14:33 British Summer Time 12 April 2017

A football finance expert says Coventry City have missed an opportunity to get more fans through the turnstiles by dropping their ticket prices.

    Quote Message

They have the momentum of 43,000 fans going to Wembley, they had a great day out so why not get them to come more often? If you look at a club such as Bradford City which is in League One - its season ticket is £149 and they have sold 17,000 and hoping to sell 20,000 next season. So given the capacity of the Ricoh is 32,000, Coventry would benefit from lots of people paying slightly less money. Just get the fans to come back, bring their kids and buy the shirts - they would make more money

If you renew a Sky Blues season ticket before the end of May, it'll cost £299. But if you renew after May it goes up to £345.

Mr Maguire added: "The finances are in such a mess.

"They lost £36,000 a week last year. For every £100 that came in from the fans through the turnstiles, they paid out £107 in bank interest.

"It's a messy situation they are facing. It's not just the cost of the ticket when you go to the match - it's the transport and buying food when you get there too and it all adds up."

Many supporters on social media say the price is too high for a club that's likely to be playing in League Two next season.

Looking at BBC Sport's Price of Football from 2016, five other clubs in League Two charged more than £299 for their cheapest season ticket - Cheltenham (£315), Grimsby (£305), Mansfield (£330), Notts County (£310), Portsmouth (£300).

It's perhaps not the best news Sky Blues fans have heard all day, but the club is trying to ride on the wave of Wembley and use the "momentum and spirit wholeheartedly into next season".

She often uses the bus and rail network but also hitchhikes – and during previous missing episodes she has been known to sleep rough. There are fears more similar honour crimes are not being reported. The figures "could be much higher", according to Det Insp Wendy Bird.
