    A Coventry man's been jailed for six years after he was spotted dumping a sawn-off shotgun on waste ground in Wood End, police say.

    Sean Walsh, 27, from Binton Road, left two bags containing the gun and live ammunition in October 2015. 

    He was found guilty of possessing a prohibited firearm and ammunition at Warwick Crown Court, on Thursday 6 April after a two-day trial

    Legendary steam engine the Flying Scotsman has passed through Warwickshire on its way from Yorkshire to Sussex.

    Fraser Pithie snapped this picture of its journey through the Rugby countryside. 

    "It's the first time I've seen it since it was rebuilt", he said, "so lovely to see the old girl".

    Local aerial photographer Chris Reeve took these images of the Amazon warehouse being constructed on the site of the old Jaguar Browns Lane plant in Coventry.

    The main warehouse is 40,000 square metres - the size of more than five football pitches.

    The online retailer said today it would start recruiting 800 staff later this year.

    The Labour councillor in charge of development in the city, Jim O'Boyle, said Amazon had also put in a planning application to extend the car park which is set to have places for 700 cars and 127 heavy goods vehicles.

    One person has been taken to hospital suffering neck and back pain after being hit by a bike in Coventry, the ambulance service says.

    It says the 24 year old was struck on The Burges at about 13:05.

    The Flying Scotsman is due to pass through Warwickshire this afternoon on its way from Keighley to East Grinstead for a tour around the heritage Bluebell Railway.

    A woman's been taken to hospital suffering from a head injury after being found lying in the road in the Foleshill area of Coventry, says the ambulance service.

    It was called to Churchill Avenue at about 10:50 today.

    Online retailer Amazon has confirmed it will start recruiting for more than 800 jobs at its new warehouse facility in Coventry later this year.

    The council granted permission for the 24-hour distribution centre , on the site of the former Jaguar Browns Lane site, in November.

    The company's Stefano Perego said the full-time permanent roles would range from operations managers and graduate posts to engineers, HR and IT specialists - as well as warehouse operators.

    The Royal Shakespeare Company's multi-award winning show Matilda the Musical is to go on tour in the UK next spring.

    The show started off in Stratford-upon-Avon in 2010 before transferring to the West End where it's now in its sixth year at Cambridge Theatre. 

    The theatre company has announced  that the production, based on the Roald Dahl book, will tour Birmingham, Leicester and Milton Keynes.

    A national waterways charity says it costs £1m a year to clean up the canal network.

    A funding package for driverless technology and low carbon innovation, worth £109m, has been awarded to initiatives looking to bring the concepts to market, including projects in Coventry and Warwickshire.

    The joint government-industry package has been announced today.

    Warwick Manufacturing Group, based at the University of Warwick, is collaborating with BMW Motorsport to design, develop and produce power dense batteries.

    Jaguar Land Rover and Coventry companies Penso Consulting and Ricardo Innovations have won funding to develop ultra-low and zero emission technologies.

    Coventry Rugby Club have signed the former England number eight Luke Narraway for the new season.

    The 33-year-old is the current captain of London Irish  and joins as a player-coach on a two-year deal. 

    He captained Gloucester for a season and won the European Challenge and LV Cup during his time there.
