    The A46 southbound has been re-opened between the A45 and A452 following a collision that resulted in a serious fuel spill, police say.

    Travel time through the area is about an hour, with congestion back up to A45 Stonebridge Highway.

    Two lanes were closed after the incident.

    Three special debate programmes will be broadcast by the BBC in the West Midlands as part of the coverage of the Metro Mayor elections.

    A live television debate, presented by politics editor Patrick Burns, will see the six candidates going head-to-head in front of a studio audience on Thursday 20 April at 22:45.

    Coventry University and Bourneville College will host debates to be broadcast on BBC Coventry & Warwickshire on Thursday 18 April and BBC WM on 27 April.

    The metro mayor will represent Birmingham, Coventry, Dudley, Sandwell, Solihull, Walsall and Woverhampton -  full details of the candidates can be found here.

  9. A444 fatal crash victims namedpublished at 17:43 British Summer Time 10 April 2017

    Two men who died in a crash in Bedworth on Saturday 1 April have been named by police.

    David Jacques, 53, of Windmill Road in Exhall was riding a motorbike on the A444 Bedworth Bypass shortly after 19:00. 

    Both he and his passenger, 46-year-old Craig Doyle of Lindley Road in Bedworth, died at the scene.

    Grands Prix events could be hosted on roads around Coventry in the future according to the organiser of the city's annual MotoFest.

    New laws that came into force today allow motorsport promoters to apply for permission from local authorities to close public roads in England to stage races. 

    MotoFest director James Noble said he hopes to have competitive racing on the city's ring road from 2018.
