    More than 200 people have signed a petition calling for an Edwardian boating lake to be restored in one of Coventry's oldest formal parks.

    The 100m-long lake in Nauls Mill Park, Coundon, has been left empty by the council in recent winters to prevent people from ice skating or putting themselves at risk if the water freezes.

    Four years ago a decision was made to drain the naturally-fed lake because the concrete lining had cracked and perished and water was leaking upstream. The repair is estimated to be £104,000.

    The brand new electric taxi which is being built at Ansty, near Coventry, has been unveiled at the Frankfurt Motor Show.

    It's being produced by the London Electric Vehicle Company [LEVC], formerly London Taxi International or LTI.

    LEVC chief executive Chris Gubby has told BBC Coventry and Warwickshire it is expecting a lot of interest by 2020.

    Governors at Camp Hill Primary made what they called the "difficult decision" this morning to close until further notice.

    In a message on the school website they said: “This is to safeguard our pupils, staff and families. I hope that you support this difficult decision."

    The school was shut in April when cleaning up took place at a site on nearby land that was occupied by travellers.

    The number of children going missing from care in Warwickshire has increased by more than 80% this year.

    Figures from Warwickshire Police, external show between April and June there were 312 reports of runaways over that time, with the number of children repeatedly absconding from care increasing by more than a quarter.

    Police are investigating after a video of an officer heard to make racial comments to a member of the public was posted on social media.

    The constable was heard to make comments during a search of premises in Coventry on 24 August, West Midlands Police, external said.

    The force said it had received an official complaint, referred the matter to the Independent Police Complaints Commission and officers from its own professional standards department were investigating.

    The officer has been removed from front-line duties "pending further assessment".

    Assistant Chief Constable Alex Murray said: “The officer has already expressed remorse and is very apologetic over his comments."
