    Specialist cleaning equipment is needed to clear a large fuel spillage after a lorry crashed on the A446 Lichfield Road in Curdworth earlier.

    The road is closed northbound between the B4117 at Cole End and M42 J9 because of the spillage.

    The family of a five-year-old are being supported by financial donations on a website so they can move to The Hague where he can be treated with medical cannabis oil, which is illegal in the UK.

    Alfie Dingley, from Kenilworth, has a rare form of epilepsy and has been taken to hospital scores of times suffering violent seizures.

    He's been reliant on steroids but they have serious side effects.

    Myra James was 11 months old when she contracted polio, while her family were living on Broad Lane in Coventry.

    The 65-year-old has travelled from Yorkshire for an event to mark the 60th anniversary of the outbreak in the city.

    She was kept in isolation at what was then the Whitley Hospital in the city.

    "My parents weren't allowed any direct contact with me", she said, "they could only look at me through the glass".

    "When they came to take me home I cried for the nurse... I became really attached to them."

    A Coventry restaurant is facing a fine of up to £80,000 after five men were arrested by immigration officers.

    The men were detained on Saturday evening, after authorities received a tip-off about the Turmeric Gold restaurant in Spon Street.

    Five Bangladeshi men aged between 22 and 48 were found to have overstayed their visas at the restaurant, which has now been temporarily closed under the Immigration Act.

    Three of the men are detained pending their removal from the UK, the Home Office said, and two others, with outstanding applications, were ordered to report regularly to authorities.

    The police and crime commissioner for the West Midlands says officers could be lost, external if it is forced to increase salaries without extra government funding.

    The government announced it's to lift the 1% pay cap for both police and prison officers, but many forces say they haven't budgeted for the change.

    Labour's David Jamieson says for every 1% pay increase, it would cost the force the equivalent of 80 police officer posts.

    The disease, which causes spinal and respiratory paralysis, can kill and remains incurable, but vaccines have assisted in its almost total eradication today.
