    Holidaymakers returning from foreign shores are being reminded to check luggage for illegal stowaways - of the reptile kind.

    One Warwick family recently found a lizard creeping out of a suitcase after a holiday in Greece, with another gecko found clinging on to hand luggage during a journey from Turkey to Hereford.

    As the reptiles are not native to the UK, the RSPCA is reminding travellers it's an offence to release them or allow them to escape into the wild.

    One of Coventry City's coaches, Nicky Eaden, has left his post to join League Two side Chesterfield.

    Eaden joined the club last year to take charge of the under-23s and oversee the development of younger players into the senior side.

    The team behind Coventry's bid to bring the coveted title to the city, The Coventry City of Culture Trust, have delivered a 30-page document to the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport.

    Coventry is up against Paisley, Stoke-on-Trent, Sunderland and Swansea for the title - the decision will be made in December.

    Warwickshire spinner, Jeetan Patel, has a chance of winning the Professional Cricketers’ Association’s Player of the Month Award for September.

    He earned most points in the PCA’s Most Valuable Player Rankings during the month and will now go into a fans’ poll to decide the winner.

    Patel earned 30 points for his century against Yorkshire, the third of his career and added 11 more points for taking two wickets in Yorkshire's first innings and 34 more for his first five-wicket haul of the season.

  15. Man jailed for 'frenzied' stabbing over drug debtpublished at 15:20 British Summer Time 29 September 2017

    A Coventry man has been jailed for more than 15 years after a "frenzied" attack, during which he stabbed a man nine times over an alleged £25 unpaid drug debt, police say., external

    Dylan Kalubi, 22, of Windsor Street in Spon End, admitted the charge of wounding with intent after the attack in July 2016.

    Kalubi also admitted an earlier affray at So Club Room in Coventry, in May of last year, where he knocked his victim unconscious.

    He was sentenced to a total of 15 and a half years at Wolverhampton Crown Court on Friday, 22 September.

  17. Car theft data 'incomplete' say policepublished at 14:20 British Summer Time 29 September 2017

    Figures showing that Warwickshire had the largest percentage rise in stolen vehicles in the country were misleading because the data the county's police supplied were "incomplete", according to the force.

    Vehicle thefts have risen nationally by 30% in the last three years following a decade of decline, according to figures from the RAC, based on a Freedom of Information (FOI) to forces across the country.

    Warwickshire Police say after they reviewed the data, external they had released as part of the FOI request they found it didn't have all the data for 2013, making the percentage rise in car thefts to 2016 seem larger than it actually was.

  18. Foxhound MoD vehicles 'keep breaking down'published at 14:00 British Summer Time 29 September 2017

    Vehicles designed in Warwickshire, which are mean to protect British troops in Iraq and Afghanistan, are overheating, soldiers say.

    The Leamington Spa-made Foxhounds, first deployed in 2012, were designed to safeguard soldiers from IED blasts and operate in hot conditions.

    An Army sergeant in Iraq, responsible for maintaining a fleet of seven Foxhounds, told the BBC the vehicle was "a massive waste of money".

    The Ministry of Defence said Foxhound had dealt with "demanding conditions in Iraq" and was "keeping soldiers safe".
