  5. Family pay tribute to brother whose boat sank in Droitwich canalpublished at 16:30 British Summer Time 15 August 2016

    The family of Allen Green who died after his boat sank in the Droitwich canal have been paying tribute to him at his funeral today. 

    His sister, Pamela Hatch, said she still can't believe he's gone and described his death as a "big loss".

    Allen was killed last month after his tiller became jammed between lock doors.

  11. Family of Droitwich grandmother felt "bullied" over bed-blocking photospublished at 14:34 British Summer Time 15 August 2016

    The family of a 85-year old grandmother who was left on a trolley in a hospital corridor for 12 hours say they felt "bullied" by hospital staff after photographing the scene. 

    Laura Webb took pictures of her mother Barbara Sunpter when she was admitted to Worcestershire's Royal Accident and Emergency department.

    Ms Webb says she was told to delete the pictures by hospital staff after she spoke about the family's distressing ordeal, despite only her mother being identifiable.

    Worcestershire Acute Hospital NHS Trust say they are very sorry for the way Mrs Sunpter was cared for and with regard to the photographs they have a legal duty to ensure that everyone in a picture has provided their consent.

  13. Standing room only at first mass at Herefordshire chapel in over a centurypublished at 13:54 British Summer Time 15 August 2016

    The first mass to be held at Rotherwas Chapel for more than a century was so popular most people had to stand outside. 

     They were expecting about 30 people but there was over 150 people, including a couple from Rome!

    Before today it could only be viewed by making an appointment through English Heritage.  

    But a newly formed Friends of the Chapel group are striving to make the historic chapel, once part of a large estate, more accessible to visitors.

  17. Taser victim thought to be Aston villa footballerpublished at 12:35 British Summer Time 15 August 2016

    A man who died after being Tasered by West Mercia Police in Telford is believed to be former footballer Dalian Atkinson.

    Police were called to a house at around 1:30 this morning after concerns for the safety of a man.

    A Taser was used on the 48-year-old man and after receiving medical help, he was pronounced dead at about 03:00.

    Mr Atkinson played for Aston Villa, Ipswich Town and Sheffield Wednesday.

    During a 16-year career, he also played for Real Sociedad and Fenerbahce, winning one cap for England B.

    A diversion has been put in place along the A4103 towards Hereford, A487 Newtown cross roads and A49 Hope under Dinmore. 

    There is an alternative along the B4197 Martley Road (Ankerdine Hill) for light and local vehicles but this is not suitable for HGVs.

    Worcestershire Acute Hospital NHS Trust say it is "very sorry" that a 85-year-old grandmother was left on a hospital trolley for 12 hours. 

    The trust acknowledge Barbara Sunpter's care was "not ideal" and say they are "working hard to improve".

    They say major building work is currently under way to expand the A&E department at Worcestershire Royal so they can provide a better environment for patients.
