    - Two lanes on the M5 southbound at junction 6 could remain closed until about 18:00 after a crash closed two lanes of the motorway earlier

    - A man described as vulnerable by police fell from a ledge at Gullett Quarry in Malvern.

    - A man from Kidderminster has been jailed for 14 months after being found guilty of operating a cannabis factory in a former World War Two bunker in Worcestershire. 

  2. Worcestershire youngsters to compete at 2016 School Gamespublished at 17:31 British Summer Time 30 August 2016

    Four Worcestershire athletes have been selected to compete at the 2016 School Games - a national multi-sport event for the UK's elite young athletes.

    This year 14-year-old Abigail Watkins, from Worcester, will be representing Wales in fencing.

  3. 'Vulnerable' man fell from ledge at quarrypublished at 16:48 British Summer Time 30 August 2016

    A man described as vulnerable by police has fallen from a ledge at Gullett Quarry, in Malvern. 

    The emergency services were called to the quarry at 22:30 on Friday. 

    Police negotiators were at the scene when the man, in his 30s, fell from the edge of the quarry.

    He was treated by paramedics before being taken to Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham. 

  4. Next company to run West Midlands rail franchise must provide for another 20,000 passengerspublished at 16:32 British Summer Time 30 August 2016

    The government's announced the company running the next West Midlands Rail franchise will have to have room for another 20,000 passengers. 

    Current operator Govia, which owns London Midland, wants to run the franchise again after it expires next year.

    Another company, Dutch-owned West Midlands Trains Ltd, has also been shortlisted. 

    The government says both firms must set out how they'll provide more trains and more space for passengers. 

  5. 300th anniversary of Capability Brown celebrated with marathon bell ringingpublished at 16:17 British Summer Time 30 August 2016

    The 300th anniversary of the baptism of the "Shakespeare of gardening" was marked today with three hours of bell ringing. 

    Capability Brown designed the gardens and parkland at Croome Court, where St Mary Magdalene Church stands.

    Brown, who was baptised 300 years ago, also demolished the original parish church, but the bells were used in the new one, which were heard today.

    Worcester Warriors' home fixture with Wasps has been moved to 4 December as it has been selected for live television coverage.

    The match, which kicks-off at 15:00, sees Sixways hosting a second West Midlands derby since Wasps' move to Coventry.

    It is the fourth occasion Warriors will feature on BT Sport before Christmas, following live games against Saracens, Gloucester Rugby and Newcastle Falcons. 

  9. Kidderminster Hospice commission ceramic butterflies to raise moneypublished at 15:08 British Summer Time 30 August 2016

    Kemp Hospice, in Kidderminster, has commissioned ceramic butterflies to raise funds for its Forget Me Not appeal.  

    Only a third of its money comes from the NHS, so it's hoped the project will raise vital funds to allow the hospice to continue supporting families and patients.

    The butterflies, which have been made by a Worcestershire artist, are painted, glazed and then fired in the kiln for 24 hours.     

    They will be on display at Bodenham Arboretum until 11 September.

  10. Couple celebrate pulling pints for 45 years with special beerpublished at 14:43 British Summer Time 30 August 2016

    Chris and Sandra Corbin have been busy pulling pints for locals at the Cross Keys in Withington for 45 years.

    And to mark the special occasion they've had a beer brewed in their honour.

    The tongue in cheek "Life Behind Bars" beer is described as sweet and hoppy.

    Well pub-goers say it's a "really good boozer" with no frills and just plenty of drinking and socialising.

  12. "Sad day" for Worcestershire County Cricket Club following death of chairmanpublished at 14:07 British Summer Time 30 August 2016

    Worcestershire Supporters' Association's long serving chairman Ken Mills has died at the age of 77, after a long battle against cancer. 

    Ken oversaw the purchase of New Road by the association for the county in 1977 from Worcester Cathedral for £30,000 and was involved in many other projects.

    Director of Cricket Steve Rhodes said: "Ken has been an amazing person for Worcestershire County Cricket Club.

    "To be chairman for over 40 years is an amazing achievement and his memory - and the role of the association - will live on and on."

    More on the man who has been jailed for operating a cannabis factory in a former World War Two bunker in Worcestershire.

    Wayne "Sid" Robinson, 48, from Kidderminster, was arrested after the factory was discovered in the Drakelow tunnels.

    A couple from Herefordshire are celebrating 45 years of running their pub by having a beer brewed in their honour. 

    Chris and Sandra Corbin, from the Cross Keys at Withington, took over the pub in 1971 from Sandra's parents.

    To mark their anniversary, Wye Valley brewery has produced a special ale called Life Behind Bars.

    A man is due to be sentenced at Worcester Crown Court this morning after being found guilty of attempting to grow cannabis in a former world war two underground bunker. 

    Wayne "Sid" Robinson, 48, from Kidderminster, was arrested after a cannabis farm was discovered in the Drakelow tunnels.
