    The West Midlands MEP Bill Etheridge has announced he will stand for the UKIP leadership again. 

    One of the favourites, Stephen Woolfe, has now been discharged from hospital after an altercation with a fellow UKIP MEP in Strasbourg. 

    With question marks being raised over whether Mr Woolfe can continue to seek the party leadership, Mr Etheridge says he can "no longer" support his campaign and will now run himself.

    The West Mercia Police and Crime Commisioner, John Campion, will face questions from the public at a meeting in The Guildhall in Worcester next Wednesday.

    He'll be appearing before Worcester City Council’s scrutiny committee.

    The council says the meeting is open to the public, but anyone wishing to speak at it needs to register in advance.

    A cash machine has been stolen from a garage in Ledbury, external in the early hours of this morning.

    West Mercia Police say two men forced their way on to the forecourt of Parkway Garage in Parkway between 00:45 and 02:00.

    They damaged security lighting and CCTV cameras and removed the cash machine, but abandoned it when they found it was empty.

  17. Assault and dangerous driving arrest by badger cull officerspublished at 16:02 British Summer Time 7 October 2016

    A 56-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of assault and dangerous driving, external after an investigation by officers connected to the badger cull, police say.

    In August a badger cull managed by the Department of Environment, Food and Rural Affairs focused in the south west was extended to seven new counties, including Herefordshire.

    West Mercia Police say officers working under Operation Themis, the policing response to the cull, received a report that a man working at a location near Tewkesbury on the Worcestershire-Gloucestershire border, had been assaulted and a car driven at him. 

    A man from Cheltenham was arrested on Tuesday and has been released on bail until a date in November, a spokesman said.
