  4. Inquest continues into death of teenager at golf clubpublished at 10:52 British Summer Time 5 October 2016

    The inquest continues today into the death of Herefordshire teenager Tyrone Lock at a Whitchurch golf club.

    Yesterday, police dog handler PC Ian Willes gave evidence and explained how he tracked tree-lines and water areas for 40 minutes, and at one point heard a voice shouting "Leonard" - the name of Lock's friend.

    PC Willes said the police dog picked up a scent though it couldn't be determined if it was Tyrone's and the jury heard that PC Willes had unwittingly searched near to the pond where Tyrone Lock's body was found two days later. 

    The jury has been asked to consider whether West Mercia Police took appropriate action in their search for Tyrone.

    The West Midlands UKIP MEP Bill Etheridge says he's not ruling out another bid to become the party's leader.

    Mr Etheridge missed out in the last leadership election to Diane James, who has announced she's resigning after 18 days in the role. 

    Nigel Farage has said he is still technically leader but has told the BBC he won't be contesting any future leadership contest and Mr Etheridge says that's what he's been told as well.

  8. Hereford Racecourse owners welcome entriespublished at 09:34 British Summer Time 5 October 2016

    The owners of Hereford Racecourse say they're delighted at the number of entries they've had for Thursday's jump meeting - the first time national hunt racing has been held at the course for four years

    Local trainers Michael Scudamore, Tom Symonds and Kerry Lee will have runners among more than 130 entries for the seven jump races.

    Champion jockey Richard Johnson will also be in action on his home course and will be aiming for a victory in front of the Rusty Bridge Restaurant, newly named after his first career winner which he rode at Hereford as a 17-year-old.

  15. Inquest hears about struggle of man paralysed by road crashpublished at 17:28 British Summer Time 4 October 2016

    An inquest has been hearing about the overwhelming injuries a paralysed man from Kidderminster had to battle with as the result of a road traffic collision. 

    The coroner found Richard Rudd, 49, died from pneumonia and an infection in 2009. 

    His family had an agonising decision about whether to switch his ventilator off and were at the hearing in Gloucestershire today.

    Millions of pounds will be coming back to Herefordshire Council after the High Court ruled it had overpaid a company that was employed to carry out road repairs across the county.

    Between 2003 and 2013, the council paid Amey Wye Valley Limited £204m to carry out work on roads, council buildings and services such as catering and printing.

    Yesterday at the High Court in London it was ruled the council was entitled to get £9.5m back from Amey and also have the fees it had paid to adjudicators refunded.
