Earlier this summer the county's acute trust, external admitted the backlog of scans - some potentially life-saving - existed.

When any X-ray is carried out, it is first reviewed by the doctor or nurse who wanted it and then later by a radiologist. If it had been following its own rules, the trust that runs Worcestershire's acute hospitals would check all these X-rays within a fortnight.

The trust has launched its own independent review of radiology. Health bosses now say all urgent X-rays have now been checked, although about half of X-rays from 2014 and 2015 have not been reviewed.
