  1. Morgan buy back Malvern factory landpublished at 15:21 British Summer Time 13 June 2017

    Morgan Motor Company has bought back the land their Malvern factory stands on, the company has announced.

    In January 2006 the firm sold the land on which the factory is built to fund product development in a sell and lease-back deal with Stirling Investments.

    It says the re-acquisition of the land follows "a successful period of business development and helps to provide stable foundations for Morgan’s future growth plans".

    The announcement that 60 jobs are going at carpet makers Brintons in Kidderminster may be a sign the company is being prepared to be sold, the local MP says.

    Mark Garnier, the Conservative MP for Wyre Forest, believes the Carlisle Group, who own Brintons, may be trying to make the firm more attractive to potential buyers.

    Two men have appeared at Hereford Crown Court today charged with the murder of a double killer at HMP Long Lartin, near Evesham.

    Brett Rogers, who was jailed after killing his mother and her friend in their home in Stansted Mountfitchet in Essex, was found strangled in his cell last Wednesday.

    The men, aged 41 and 24, have been charged with his murder and will next appear in court in the week of the 31 July.

    Grants of between £1,000 and £5,000 are available for businesses looking to grow in the Wychavon area, external, the district council says.

    The grants use money made available by the European Union to provide support to small and medium-sized enterprises as they start up and look to grow their business.

    Wychavon District Council says the businesses will have to match the funding with investment of their own.

    Two people arrested after a stabbing in Worcester have been released without charge, police say.

    West Mercia Police say a 33-year-old woman and a 41-year-old man, both from Worcester and arrested on suspicion of aiding and abetting attempted murder, have been released without charge.

    The incident happened at an address on George Street, Worcester at 23:00 on Sunday.

    Brett Rogers, 25, was jailed for life for stabbing to death his mother and her friend at their home in Stansted Mountfitchet.

    He was found strangled to death in his cell at HMP Long Lartin last week.

    The men - aged 41 and 24 - are due in court in Worcester later.

    A more "united Worcester" can be created, according to the new mayor of Worcester, after he met leaders of the city’s Muslim community and the police.

    Councillor Steve Mackay says he set up the meeting in the wake of the terror attacks in Manchester and London and the recent arrest of two people from Worcestershire in connection to Facebook posts which are being treated as racial hate crime.

    Two men are due to appear at Worcester Crown Court today charged with the murder of an inmate at HMP Long Lartin.

    Brett Rogers was found strangled in his cell at the Worcestershire prison.

    He was jailed last May for at least 32 years after killing his mother and her friend at her home in Essex.
