    Hereford's link with the SAS, based at Credenhill, is the reason the city was chosen as the site for a simulated helicopter crash.

    The exercise at Rotherwas yesterday was designed to give the RAF and emergency services the chance to test how they'd deal with a possible crash or terrorist attack.

    Worcestershire will today attempt to round off their season in style by winning the County Championship Division Two title.

    Their promotion to Division One was confirmed yesterday when Northamptonshire were bowled out in their first innings at Leicestershire.

    Worcestershire are in a strong position to beat Durham at New Road today.

    After bowling out the visitors for 208 in their first innings, bad light ended play early on day three with Worcestershire on 157-3, that's a lead of 284 runs.

    Play is due to resume at 10:30 and there will be full commentary on 738 AM and online here from BBC Hereford & Worcester.

    Worcestershire's captain, Joe Leach (pictured), says their success this season has rewarded them for sticking to their principles.

  5. Some Velo Birmingham protesters 'went too far'published at 09:59 British Summer Time 28 September 2017

    Organisers of the Velo Birmingham cycling event, which passed through Worcestershire, say parts of the route in that county were targeted by protesters who threw metallic objects on to the road.

    The sportive saw 15,000 cyclists pass through places including Bewdley, Stourport and Ombersley, causing road closures for most of Sunday.

    John Ridgeon, from CMS Active, which organised the event, says some people took their protests too far.

    First-half goals from Garyn Preen, John Mills and Keyon Reffell saw the Bulls through to what was their seventh successive victory in all competitions.

  7. Council workers threaten walkouts over pay dealpublished at 08:42 British Summer Time 28 September 2017

    Unions representing council workers in the Wyre Forest are warning they could take industrial action, following the district council's decision to impose a four-year below inflation pay deal.

    While Independent, Labour and Liberal Democrat councillors all voted against the 4.5% rise over four years, the deal was pushed through by Conservatives, who've so far failed to reach agreement with unions.

    Representatives from the GMB and Unison say they'll keep negotiating, but some council workers, such as facilities manager Ben Elsie, say it's time for walkouts.

    A Fiat 500 car, decorated by artist Tracey Emin, has failed to sell at auction in Leominster.

    Auctioneers Brightwells said it did not meet its reserve price.

    The car raised £200,000 for charity when it was first auctioned 10 years ago and it's been in a private collection ever since.

    The RAF and emergency services have taken part in a helicopter crash simulation in Hereford today.

    The "crash" at Rotherwas was an emergency response exercise rehearsing the region’s civil and military response to such a collision.

    The initiative near Chapel Road involved the RAF, police and fire and ambulance services plus the Environment Agency and Herefordshire Council.
