  1. 'Crash for cash' victim warns of tell-tale signspublished at 11:25 British Summer Time 25 September 2017

    Janet Strudwick from Worcester was targeted by fraudsters in a so-called "crash for cash" scam.

    Although her insurers picked up the bill for the repairs, she lost her £250 excess and initially lost her no-claims bonus as well.

    The West Midlands has the three worst areas for this kind of crime according to a new league table.

    Birmingham is the worst area, although Worcester was named by the insurance company Aviva last year as an emerging hotspot.

    A man has been killed and five other people injured in a crash at a Herefordshire junction., external

    West Mercia Police say two cars collided on the A438 between Trumpet and Ledbury at about 23:20, external last night., external

    The driver of one of the cars, a man in his 20s, died at the scene, and two adults and three children in the other car were taken to hospital - three with serious injuries.

    A two-year-old girl was unconscious; ambulance staff were told that she had been pulled from the car by a lorry driver who had stopped to assist. She was anaesthetised at the scene and was taken to the paediatric major trauma centre at Birmingham Children’s Hospital on blue lights with one of the doctors traveling with the ambulance crew."

    The two other children, a seven-year-old boy and a five-year-old boy, both with multiple injuries, were also taken to Birmingham Children's Hospital.

  4. Worcestershire's Moen Ali makes second fastest centurypublished at 10:21 British Summer Time 25 September 2017

    Worcestershire's Moeen Ali scored England's second fastest ever one day century from just 53 balls, as they beat the West Indies by 124 runs in the third match of the series in Bristol.

    England made 369 for 6, and in reply Liam Plunkett took five for 52 as the West Indies were all out for 245.

    The fourth game in the series is on Wednesday at the Oval.

    Worcestershire are six points clear at the top of the County Championship division two table as they head into their final match of the season against Durham at New Road.

  5. Bomb victim takes bronze at Invictus Gamespublished at 09:38 British Summer Time 25 September 2017

    A veteran from Worcestershire has won a bronze medal at the Invictus Games in Toronto.

    Dave Watson from Romsley, near Bromgrove, lost both legs and an arm when a roadside bomb blew up while he was serving in Afghanistan.

    He took third place in the shot put and is hoping for a second medal when he competes in the discus this afternoon.

    More than 1,000 NHS workers across Herefordshire and Worcestershire have been on long-term sick leave over the last year.

    More than 700 acute trust staff in Worcestershire and more than 500 in Herefordshire have been off work for between a month and more than one year.

    The chief operating officer in charge of Worcestershire Royal Hospital, Stewart Messer, has been off for over two years - and has received more than £300,000 in pay and pension top-ups in that time.

  7. Open road bike ride hailed a successpublished at 08:53 British Summer Time 25 September 2017

    Organisers of the Velo Birmingham say the 100-mile bike ride across the West Midlands has been a huge success.

    Fifteen thousand cyclists took to the streets and open roads across Birmingham, the Black Country, Worcestershire and Staffordshire.

    Residents along the route were affected by road closures as cyclists were promised exclusive access.
