  2. Another Hereford FC board member steps downpublished at 13:31 British Summer Time 26 September 2017

    A second Hereford FC, external board member has left.

    Governance director Phil Eynon's departure has been confirmed by the club which now has two short-term vacancies on the board following financial director Mike Cole's departure in August.

    The club says it hopes to make an announcement on the roles in the next few days.

    Chairman Ken Kinnersley said: "We respect the decision Phil has reached and on behalf of everyone at the club I’d like to thank him for the huge amount of time and effort he has put in at Edgar Street over the past two years.

    "The process of appointing a new financial director and a replacement for Phil is already at an advanced stage, subject to the necessary legal formalities and the requirement for a slight re-alignment of responsibilities within the Hereford FC Board."

    Part of the M5 remains closed after a chemical lorry overturned in the early hours.

    The driver, believed to be in his 50s, was treated for cuts to his head and grazes to his arm and taken to hospital.

    Clare Shaw, from Broadway, has been selected to take part in the Ice Warrior Lastpole Expedition, which will attempt to reach the Northern Pole of Inaccessibility, more than 200 miles further north than the geographic North Pole.

    Although nobody's ever managed to get there, Clare's confident she and the rest of the team will make it.

    One man has taken to hospital with cuts and bruises after a chemical lorry overturned as it left the M5 motorway.

    West Midlands Ambulance Service, which took this footage, was called to the southbound exit slipway at junction eight of the M5, where the motorway links to the M50, just before 00:15 this morning.

    The Malvern Hills Science Park [pictured below] could be about to become the first test site in the UK for 5G technology.

    Worcestershire Local Enterprise Partnership, external has teamed with the University of Surrey, external to create the test bed, which will allow entrepreneurs to test 5G capabilities in a new incubator sited at the science park.

    They will be working with the likes of Worcester Bosch, Gtech and Qinetiq to find new ways of improving businesses here and around the world.

    5G could give mobile devices faster access to the internet.

    An HGV driver has been taken to hospital after a chemical lorry overturned as it left a motorway.

    The man, believed to be in his 50s, was treated for cuts to his head and grazes to his arm, the ambulance service say.

    A rape victim from Worcester says tougher punishments need to be handed out to sex offenders.

    Latest figures show police in Herefordshire and Worcestershire are facing an unprecedented rise in the number of sexual offences, with more than 3,000 reported across the West Mercia force area last year.

    Peter Shirley, who's 42, was raped four years ago - he has waived his right to anonymity.

    He left it over a year before telling the police and nobody was ever prosecuted for the sexual assault on him.

  12. M50 and M5 could re-open at middaypublished at 09:09 British Summer Time 26 September 2017

    Delays continue for drivers this morning as the clean-up operation takes place on the M50 and M5.

    Highways England have advised that the carriageway should re-open at about 12:00, but this could change. There are long delays in all the surrounding routes as a consequence.
