    Hull FC newbie Josh Griffin has revealed that desire and ambition were the motivating factors for his move to the club from Salford.

    After helping the Red Devils survive the drop from the Super League at the expense of Hull KR in the "Million Pound Game", Griffin says his eyes are now on the other end of the table in 2017:

    A man has been charged with robbery, external after a woman and her nine year old son were attacked at a cash machine in Scunthorpe. 

    Stuart Charles Shadlock, aged, 25, of no fixed address to due to appear in court.

    So Christmas comes to both Grimsby and Hull today.

    The Christmas lights are being switched on in both places. 

    Our very own Neil Rudd will be overseeing things in Hull and in Grimsby you can throw into the mix reindeer, a ship made of Lego, oh and donkey rides....of course!

    The action starts at 15:00 on Victoria Street in Grimsby and the lights are being switched on at 19:00 by a local hero.

    In Hull the fun starts at around 18:40 at the Rose Bowl in Queen's Gardens in the city centre.

    Metropolitan Police officers believe there could be more victims of the serial killer Stephen Port.

    Yesterday he was found guilty of murdering four young men including Anthony Walgate from Hull, by poisoning them with lethal doses of a date rape drug.

    Stephen Port, 41, lured his victims to his London flat and secretly gave them GHB, the Old Bailey heard.

    Police will now check 58 deaths in London spanning four years involving the drug.

    Port, who denied 29 charges, will be sentenced on Friday.

    We've heard about a jobs scam in North East Lincolnshire this morning.

    Citizens Advice Bureau in Grimsby is warning people not to pay any money to any company asking for payments for criminal record checks. 

    It's after a man applied for a job online and was asked to pay a fee for the check but when he turned up for an induction for the job, the company knew nothing about him.

    We've been talking about anabolic steroids this morning.

    They increase muscle mass and performance in sport, but can also cause serious health problems.

    It's as there is a big increase in the number of people using the steroids in our area.

    Public health experts say many of the cases they see are young men who are taking them for cosmetic reasons but they can cause heart and liver damage.

    From Sunday, Hull's Ferensway will be closed for three days because of road works.

    Hull City Council say the closure will reduce the impact of the work on people in the run up to Christmas. 

    A diversion is in place.

    A teenage girl has been killed in a car accident, external near Winterton. 

    The accident happened yesterday evening at around 21:00 on Ermine Street when the car, which was heading towards the A1077, left the road and overturned. 

    The girl was pronounced dead at the scene. 

    Two 19 year-old men and a 17-year-old-girl were taken to Hull Royal Infirmary with serious but non-life threatening injuries.

    Seven thousand staff have built a one million piece Lego ship.

    In the build-up to the 150th anniversary of the start of the shipping company DFDS staff from 21 countries were asked to play their part of a mega initiative to build the biggest-ever Lego model ship. 

    The result is a huge DFDS vessel which has been entered into the Guinness Book of Records.
