    The complete route of the 2017 Tour de Yorkshire has been announced this morning.

    Stage one will start from Bridlington Spa and head towards Pocklington for the first sprint race. 

    Then, it's the climbs...up Côtes de Garrowby Hill and Goathland before heading down to Whitby. No time to stop for fish and chips though! 

    It's full steam ahead through Robin Hood's Bay and a finish along Scarborough's North Bay.

  2. Listen: Parish council turn down memorial benchpublished at 11:01 Greenwich Mean Time 2 December 2016

    The Chair of Kirkella and Westella Parish Council has told BBC Radio Humberside they cannot look again at a request for a memorial bench after the family making the request changed their mind about the colours. 

    The family of Jessica Lawson wanted a bench in their village to remember the 12-year-old  who died on a school trip last year. 

    But the parish council says the family then changed their mind about the colours of the bench. 

    The chair of the parish council Margaret Raymond says they can't look at the request again for some time because of planning rules.

    A 74-year-old man suffered life-threatening injuries and a 50-year-old woman is in a serious condition after a three-vehicle road traffic collision in Hessle, external yesterday.

    It happened at 16:20 at the junction of Boothferry Road and First Lane. Five people were taken to Hull Royal Infirmary by ambulance. 

    The three others suffered minor injuries and were not kept in hospital.  

    Police are investigating the accident.

  6. Thousands of homes in Hull 'will be saved from floods'published at 09:31 Greenwich Mean Time 2 December 2016

    Fifteen thousand properties in Hull will be protected from flooding when a new multimillion-pound project is opened later today. 

    Yorkshire Water says it has invested £16m in a surface water pumping station that will protect homes and businesses in the Kingswood and Bransholme area. 

    The Bransholme pumping station failed during flooding in 2007.

    A memorial stone is being placed at Poets' Corner in Westminster Abbey to commemorate the Hull poet, Philip Larkin.

    Philip Larkin worked as the librarian at the University of Hull and today marks 31 years since his death. 

    The stone includes a line from one of his poems and will be close to those of Thomas Hardy and the Bronte Sisters.

    John Wedgwood Clarke from the University of Hull says it's the highest honour the poet could have.

    Siemens officially opened its £310m wind turbine factory in Hull today and the chief executive of Hull City Council, Matt Dukes, has hailed the company's arrival as "a sign of confidence in the city".

    Mark Jones, the council's director of regeneration, added that it takes Hull into the global markets and the "city's future is on the up without a doubt".

    The firm said 96% of the people it has employed so far are from a 30-mile radius of the city.

    People are being called and offered advertising space in a magazine on behalf of 'Grimsby Fire and Rescue'.
