    This evening will have some patchy cloud which will quickly disperse, leaving a clear night with very light winds. 

    Temperatures will rapidly fall, minimum temperature in some rural spots as low as -4C (25F) with widespread frost and freezing fog patches.

    Hull City Council today decided to keep its options open about adding fluoride to the city's water supply. 

    A public consultation would be needed before it can happen but Deputy Director for Public Health Tim Fielding says it could help with the poor dental health in the city...

    Bomb disposal experts have carried out a controlled explosion at the University of Hull this afternoon. 

    Humberside Police say it's in connection with a nationwide operation over unstable chemical substances stored in school and university labs.

    Hull City Council has deferred a decision to implement a Public Spaces Protection Order to gate some tenfoots in the Garden Village area of the city. 

    The council's cabinet wants to explore options around unadopting the highways. 

    Residents will be consulted over whether they want to take ownership of the land.

    The closure of one of Hull's busiest roads hasn't caused the traffic chaos that was feared. 

    It's thought commuters planned ahead for the closure, meaning many areas had lighter traffic than normal.  

    Ferensway will remain closed until tomorrow night while engineers install a new pedestrian crossing and traffic light.

  7. Update: Hull's Council approves two-day closures of waste and recycling centrespublished at 16:08 Greenwich Mean Time 28 November 2016

    Hull City Council’s Cabinet has given the go-ahead for the city’s three Household Waste and Recycling Centres to be closed for two days a week.

    The council says the move would save £100,000 a year and a public consultation had shown it had the backing of a majority people, who preferred it to the permanent closure of one site.

    The centres at Sutton Fields, Wiltshire Road and Burma Drive will close for two days a week from mid-2017.

  8. Arrest warrant issued for man accused of smuggling illegal immigrants after court no-showpublished at 15:53 Greenwich Mean Time 28 November 2016

    A European Arrest Warrant has been issued by Grimsby Crown Court after a man accused of bringing 51 illegal immigrants into the country through Immingham dock failed to appear in court. 

    Lazlo Horvath, who's from Hungary pleaded not guilty to assisting illegal immigration at a previous hearing in March.

    49 Albanian people and two Syrians were found in the lorry at North Killingholme in June 2015.

  10. Government announces investment for roads in Yorkshire and Humberpublished at 15:09 Greenwich Mean Time 28 November 2016

    Millions of pounds will be made available to improve roads in our region. 

    In the announcement today, the Transport Secretary said an extra £7 million is being allocated to fix potholes across Yorkshire and the Humber. 

    Jock's Lodge Junction of the A1079 and A164 will get some investment to help ease congestion between the Humber Bridge and Beverley.

    Money is also being made available to upgrade seven of the most dangerous roads in the region.

    Eighty-five-year old June Green had over £400 stolen from her while out in Hull City Centre.

    She had planned to use the money to pay for a deposit on a holiday.

    Humberside Police have once again launched Operation Yuletide to crackdown on this type of crime, saying people should be vigilant while out Christmas shopping.

    A man and a woman from Grimsby are due to stand trial after the death of a 4 year old girl. 

    Poppy Widdison, from Grimsby, died in Sheffield Children's Hospital on 10 June 2013. 

    Her mother Michaela Pyke of Ladysmith Road and John Rytting of Frederick Street, are both charged with child cruelty offences.

  13. Hundreds stolen from 88-year-old man in Driffield street robberypublished at 14:18 Greenwich Mean Time 28 November 2016

    A man and a woman are being sought in connection with the theft of about £600 from a pensioner on a mobility scooter in Driffield earlier this month, external.

    The robbery took place at about 10:50 on Thursday 17 November, close to the mini roundabout at the junction with George Street.

    An 88-year-old man was with a friend when he was bumped into in quick succession by an unknown woman and then a man. A short time later the victim noticed that the £600 he'd withdrawn to buy new glasses was missing from his inside pocket.

    The first suspect is said to be a white woman, aged 45-55, who was wearing a "distinctive" yellow and brown mottled long coat. 

    The second suspect is a man aged 30-45 who was wearing a black dress suit and a black beany hat.

    Anyone with information is being asked to contact police.

    Too many tourists can ruin a town like Beverley - that's the warning from tourism expert Ken Robinson, who's a member of Visit Britain's tourism development committee.

    Mr Robinson was responding to comments made last week by David Bird of Beverley Chamber of Trade, who said the town should aim to attract as many visitors as it can. 

    But Mr Robinson says beyond a certain point local infrastructure and services won't cope.

  15. Bridlington health bosses try to ease fears over GP surgery closurepublished at 13:36 Greenwich Mean Time 28 November 2016

    Officials at NHS England say they're still working hard to prevent any crisis caused by the imminent closure of a Bridlington GP surgery which has about 6,500 patients.

    Field House surgery is due to shut at the end of this year, with One Medical Group, which runs the practice, saying last month it could no longer "financially subsidise the service".

    Patients currently have no idea what will happen to them, though NHS England is advising they stay with the surgery for the time being.

    The East Riding Clinical Commissioning Group says no-one will be left without a GP.

  18. Hull meets China in the classroom as teachers share skillspublished at 12:36 Greenwich Mean Time 28 November 2016

    Teachers from Shanghai are due to arrive in Hull today to share their skills in teaching mathematics with counterparts in the city.

    They're meeting teachers and pupils at Adelaide Primary school, external and are expected to teach classes at the school later this week.

    The quality of teaching in Shanghai was praised in a recent World Bank study, with the pupils in the Chinese city ranked in top place in international school tests.

  19. Hull City fans warned over Ferensway closurepublished at 12:13 Greenwich Mean Time 28 November 2016

    Hull City fans are being warned to allow plenty of time for their journey, external to the KCOM Stadium for Tuesday night's EFL Cup Quarter Final match against Newcastle United.

    With the ongoing closure of Ferensway due to roadworks, the club says traffic congestion is likely in the run-up to the game which kicks off at 19:45.

    Turnstiles at the KCOM are due to open at 18:15.

  20. Man injured in double attack in Bridlingtonpublished at 11:54 Greenwich Mean Time 28 November 2016

    A man suffered bruising to his head and face after being attacked in a Bridlington nightclub at the weekend, external.

    The incident happened at about 04:00 on Sunday morning at Bar Utopia.

    The victim, a 24-year-old man, is believed to have been kicked and punched by another man before members of the public came to his aid.

    Both men were ejected from the club, and the same man was assaulted again on the nearby Esplanade.

    A 23-year-old man's been arrested on suspicion of affray and has been released on police bail.

    Anyone with information about either assault is being asked to contact police.
