    The Ferens Art Gallery in Hull has had a £4.5m renovation and now work is starting to reinstall the artworks,

    The gallery's collection was packed up and sent to storage 15 months ago. 

    Since then work has been carried out to improve light and climate control ready for the huge task of bringing back the artworks.

    The mother of Anthony Walgate from Hull, who was murdered by serial-killer Stephen Port, has spoken to the BBC for the first time.

    Anthony was one of four young men murdered by Port.

    Sarah Sak told the Victoria Derbyshire Show that the police failed her son.

    I've been in Barton this morning where opposition is growing against plans to build on what is known as "Top Field". 

    There are plans for a pub, supermarket and up to 70 new homes on the site off Ferriby Road.

    But some people in the area aren't happy and they're holding a meeting in the town tonight to discuss opposition to the plans. 

    North Lincolnshire Council says a consultation event was held for residents in October, external and their comments will form part of the planning application.

    There had been hopes the former aircraft carrier HMS Illustrious would be berthed on the Humber.

    But it is on the way to Turkey after being sold for scrap.

    The vessel sailed out of Portsmouth for the final time this morning.

    Hull City Council's bid to maintain HMS Illustrious as an attraction was rejected in 2014.

    Soldiers from the Yorkshire Regiment have put their cricketing heroes through their paces at Europe's largest Army Garrison at Catterick.

    It was a foggy morning yesterday when troops from 2nd Battalion The Yorkshire Regiment ran the Tykes ragged with a series of challenges.

    Yorkshire coach Andrew Gale says it was was a great team-building exercise, even though the players might not have liked the wet and cold.

    Soldiers volunteered to take part.  

    The challenges included winching out a bogged down Land Rover, running a stretcher race before doing another 1.5 mile run back to the base at Somme Barracks.

    Plans for a new hospital helicopter pad behind Hull Royal Infirmary could be approved today. 

    The Hull and East Yorkshire Hospitals NHS Trust want to knock down three buildings at the back of the hospital to make way for it. 

    Officials say they have concerns about how long it takes to transfer patients from the current helipad site on land between Gladstone Street and Arnold Street.

  12. Queen's Gardens 'Solargate' statue decision duepublished at 09:48 Greenwich Mean Time 7 December 2016

    There has been mixed reaction to plans for a 10m tall statue in Hull when it was first planned for Beverley Gate earlier this year.

    Plans to place the structure there were turned down, but now proposals view a spot in Queen's Gardens instead.

    The council will decide if it can go ahead later today.

    British Steel has announced today that steel produced at the Scunthorpe plant has been chosen to make rails for the Finnish Transport Agency (FTA). 

    It's the sixth year in a row that the FTA has chosen Scunthorpe steel.

    It comes as union leaders call for the government to commit to using steel made at the Scunthorpe plant in UK building projects.

    Health officials at Hull and East Yorkshire NHS Trust says there's been a drop in the number of patients waiting four or more hours for a bed.  

    Nationally more than one in 10 patients in England face long delays for a hospital bed after emergency admission.

    BBC analysis of NHS figures showed nearly 475,000 patients waited for more than four hours for a bed on a ward in 2015-16 - almost a five-fold increase since 2010-11.

    Measures to protect poultry in England against a highly infectious strain of avian flu in Europe have been announced by the government's chief vet. 

    Prof Nigel Gibbens said the risk to humans was low and no UK cases had been found. 

    But the keepers of chickens, turkeys and ducks are required to keep them indoors for 30 days or take steps to separate them from wild birds. 

    The last outbreak in the UK was in the Driffield area in 2014.

    There are some delays on the A180 between Immingham and Scunthorpe this morning following yesterday's road closures.

    We're hearing about very slow traffic between the Barnetby turnoff and the Brocklesby Interchange while roadworks take place.

    A teenager who was attacked in a pub toilet in Cleethorpes suffered face and head injuries around midnight on Saturday 26 November.

    A 35-year-old woman has been arrested on suspicion of assault on the 18-year-old girl at the Bootlegger pub on High Street and released on bail.

    Police want to hear from any witnesses to the attack.

    Union leaders in Scunthorpe say they want a commitment from the government that steel made in the area will be used for major construction projects in the UK. 

    At least 12 foreign firms are likely to bid for the HS2 rail link contract. 

    But EU rules mean the government can't hand every state infrastructure project to British steel makers.
