    With crowds queuing outside Hull's museums and concerts selling out, you'd think we'd be running out of things to do in the City of Culture. 

    But fear not, here's my guide to some cultural activities to keep you busy over the coming week.

    1. Visit the Thornton estate in Hull, it's lit up as part of an art installation, external and just looks fantastic

    Police are looking for witnesses after a black Vauxhall Corsa collided with a tree on Beverley Road yesterday afternoon. 

    It happened at about 15:00.

    The driver of the car was taken to Hull Royal Infirmary for treatment but suffered no serious injuries.

    Police are trying to locate this man in connection with a number of offences. 

    They've been looking for 29 year old Lee Smithies, also known as Lee Dales, but searches so far have been unsuccessful.

  10. 'Friendly' deer killed in dog attackpublished at 15:34 Greenwich Mean Time 19 January 2017

    Owners have been warned to keep their pets under control after a "friendly" deer was fatally attacked by a dog.

    Daphne the deer was found at Waters' Edge Country Park in Barton on Wednesday, and later put to sleep.

    She was so badly injured she could not be saved, staff at the 110-acre park said.

    A £200 reward has been issued for information leading to a successful prosecution.

    We've heard today that the iconic Blade sculpture, which has been put up as part of Hull's City of Culture celebrations hasn't got planning permission. 

    The story was reported by the Hull Daily Mail this morning. 

    Now City of Culture organisers are applying for retrospective permission for the 75 metre long wind turbine blade.

    Hedon Primary School is asking parents to pick up their children directly from school this evening and tomorrow. 

    It follows an incident this morning in which a man approached a pupil at the school. 

    Police are dealing with the incident. Pupils in Years 5 and 6 are also being advised to walk from school in groups if they are not being collected.

    A woman who fed drugs to her four year old daughter, because she was "inconveniencing" her relationship has been jailed for 13 years. 

    Poppy Widdison collapsed at her home in Grimsby in June 2013. 

    Today her mother Michala Pyke and ex partner John Ritting, were told they were not fit to be parents and were jailed for a total of 26 years.  

    Her family spoke outside court today.

    Figures have shown Lincolnshire Police spent more than £160,000 on paying informants in the past four years. 

    The figures have been disclosed under the Freedom of Information Act.   

    The payments were as follows:

    • Apr 12-Mar 13: 45,675 
    • Apr 13-Mar 14: 40,307 
    • Apr 14-Mar 15: 50,364 
    • Mar 15-Apr 16: 27,356

    North Lincolnshire, Hull and the East Riding have all seen a rise in crime over the past year according to the latest figures from the Office for National Statistics. 

    We've talked about anti-social behaviour over the past few months, cars being burned out in Bransholme, taxi drivers having rocks thrown at them in Grimsby and a spate of vandalism in Cleethorpes

    Now Spring Bank West in Hull, next to the Calvert Lane roundabout is having problems.

    A Cleethorpes man is due to be sentenced tomorrow after admitting to a string of sexual offences against a girl under the age of two – including attempted rape.  

    Callum Bedford, 28, of Lairgate Place, Cleethorpes, was identified as part of an international operation to catch those making and distributing indecent images of children over the internet.

    Bedford pleaded guilty to offences including making and distributing indecent images of children and partaking in adult sexual activity with an 18-month-old girl.

    Bedford’s activities were first identified by the Canadian authorities after he shared the images via social media.

    He is due to appear before Grimsby Crown Court on Friday for sentencing.
